Esteemed Governor: I cone to you, speaking for our 50,000 women all over the United States in the Church of the Brethren, protesting vehemently against such UNCIVILIZED and DISGRACEFUL acts in our land as that lynching on Eastern Shore last week. No OTHER nation in the world has such a record as we. We are known the world around for our lynching episodes. As Governor of the State,in which this last horrible act came, we come pleading with you to do your very \itmost to ascert ain the guilty ones and have them pay the penalty of such wicked and dastardly acts. These beastly hapoenin^s continue to come BECAUSE the guilty ones go unpunished. It will go down in history to your everlasting credit and praise if you take a bold hand in this affair in your state and in a very definite ?/ay help TO BLOT this INHUMAN and DEVILISH custom from our HOMELAND. Very sincerely and gratefully yours The Womanhood of the Brethren Church of the U.S.A . Per ( Mrs. Edward 0. Bixler)
