| IP ' I ''HE massive Lord Baltimore, 4-8-2 Mountain type, 100 feet, 6 inches, -*- in length and weighing 659,000 pounds, came from the Mount Clare shops (Baltimore) in 1925. With its 74-inch drivers, it produces a tractive force of 68,200 pounds. It hauls nine-car Pullman trains, without a pusher or assistance of any sort, over the stiffest mountain grades of Baltimore and Ohio (2.2 per cent) at a fair rate of speed, steadily sustained. His lordship has a Vanderbilt tender-tank which holds 15,100 gallons of water and 21V2 tons of coal, necessitating the use of six-wheel trucks. |
