This portrait of Calvert was purchased by Dr. Hugh Young of Baltimore. The catalogue of the sale is the source of this image. In the catalogue the portrait is described as "Lot 11. Sir Godfrey Kneller. Portrait of Charles Clavert, third Lord Baltimore (1630-1715), full-length, turned to the right, in peer's robes with ermine cape andlarge flowing wig; on a table on the right is a coronet. signed "G. Kneller Eques." 88 in. by 56 in." Dr. Young subsequently gave the portraits acquired at this sale to the Enoch Pratt Free Library, after indicating that he might give them to the State of Maryland.
