General Smith's certificate respecting the above. There arc a number of vouchers to the amount of four hundred and forty nine dollars and eighty four cenls, paid by Capt. Bunbury; the people were employed at the city battery of six guns, which destroyed a barge of the enemy during the last attack; in preparing the battery erected at the Lazaretto, and in divers employment essential to'the public service. Capt. Bunbury was a very honest man, and I have no doubt, faithfully disbursed the amount charged. S. SMITH, Major General Commanding, No. 1. Received of M. S.
