Miss Mabel Stifler and Mr. Russell Miller were guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Henry, on Sunday. ----------o---------- RAYVILLE. Rev. A. B. Statton, D. D., Superintendent of the Pennsylvania annual conference will preach this Saturday night at Pine Grove U. B. Church. On last Saturday morning Mrs. Rachel A. Cooper, wife of Mr. John W. Cooper, pass«d away from earthy labors to a heavenly reward, at her home near this village, after a short illness, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 21 days. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at Pine Grove U. B. Church, and was conducted by her pas-tpr, Rev. J. H. Lehman, who. in his characteristic way, beautifully eulogized the life of the deceased, a*hd endeavored to bring comfort to the bereaved friends from the text: "Let not your heart be troubled." Five of aer son^-in-law and one grand-son acted as pall-bearers. Besides her aged husband she is survived by six daughters, one son, a number of grandchildren, several great-grant children and a ho it of other relatives and iriendsi who rs-main to mourn Uir departure. Mr. Randolph S-hamel has been suffering with an injured hand. Mr. Richard Fuller, of Baltimore, was the guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fuller, last Sunday. "Grandfather" Moore, an aged citizen of this place is seriously ill at the home of his son-in-law and daughter. Dr. and Mrs. H. F. Schamel. We sincerely trust that he may regain his good health again. -------------o------------- RASPEBURG, The Young People's Society of St. Mark'a Church, Baltimore, will give a humorous play, written and composed by their pastor, Rev. John Hedeman, on Thursday evening, January 29, at 8 o'clock, at Overlea M. E. Sunday school parlors. This promises to be an evening of pleasure and mirth. The public is. asked to attend this treat. Mrs. Blanche I. Davis, who haa spent some time in New York visiting her daughter, has returned home. Mrs. John P. Grace and Mrs. Clifton McCormick accompanied by the officers of the Rebekah Assembly of Maryland paid a visit to Churchville, Harford county, on Saturday, and installed the omcersi of Liberty Rebekah Lodge, for the present term. The Quarterly Institute of the Sunday school Union was held at St. John's Hamilton, on Thursday, and was well attended. Mr. Clarence Markland presided. Quite a number from the various schools attended from this neighborhood. There is great competition for carrying off the banner. -------------O------------- FUL,LERTON. The sudden change of temperature is causing a great deal of sickness. Everybody seems to have their portion of neuritis and heavy colds. Whooping cough is prominent and the children are going to school. Wednesday and Saturday nights was said to be the coldest experience for three years. The truck chauffeurs nerves are tuned up to Z this] kind of weather, skidding on the hills. A market board blew off a farm truck near the 6 Mile House and struck one of the busses, breaking, the windshield, and doing minor damages. The case came up and the decision was rendered in favor of the farmer. The executive board of the Co-Oper-ative Bus Line held an important meeting at the 6 Mile House on Wednesday evening. The oriicials were very much encouraged at the spontaneous clamor for membership. On Saturday and Sunday the bus could not carry the members. Arrangements were made for another bus, and it is presumed the line will shortly be pushed to Perry Hall. There is 2 cents reduction from Oliver Spring to Overlea, 6 cents fare from Overiea. to JfuiA,,y a.ul. —--------o---------- LUTHERVILLE, Mrs. William B .Cornell, wife of Dr. William B. Cornell, and daughter of Judge Frank I. Duncan, accompanied by her two boys, William B. and Frank Duncan Cornell, returned to her home in Albany, N. Y. Mrs. Cornall has! been visiting her old home in Dutherville since Christmas, and has been entertained extensively by her friends there. Miss Jane J. Duncan, daughter of Judge Frank 1. Duncan, of Lutherville, spent the week-end at Annapolis as the guest of Commander and Mrs. Bruce Ware. She attended the mas,queraders play by the midshipmen on Saturday afternoon last and the hop at the Naval Academy in the evening. -------------0------------- UPPERCO. Sunday school and preaching service* at Trenton Church tomorrow morning. Miss Gladys Thompson spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Wal-lett. Mr. Oscar Armacost, who has been working in Baltimore, has been spending a few days with his| parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Armacost. Miss Lucy Nash and Miss V. R. Armacost are spending the week with friends in Ashland. Miss Willa Armacost spent the weekend with Miss Luella Price. Mr. John H. Armacost has been ill for quite a while and still remains in an unimproved condition. -------------O------------- WHITE HOUSE. Misses Bessie and Susie Seaks spent Monday afternoon with Miss Pauline Martin. Mrs. Frank Peregoy and daughter. Dorothy, and Mrs. Silas Lloyd spent Thursday with Miss Pauline Martin. Mr. and Mrs. George E. Haile and son, Russell, visited at the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wisner. Mr. and Mrs. Walter P. Reckord. of Cockeysville, and Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Haile, of Butler, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewisi E. Morfoot Messrs. Preston Haile and Charles and Walter Rhoten, of Hampstead, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John T. Haile^ of Grace. Mrs. Lula Martin, who is in Baltimore, spent Thursday at her home and returned Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bossfom entertained relatives on Sunday at their ¦home. Mr. Harrison Cox, of Baltimore, spent the week-end at his home here. Mrs. Virgie Hare has returned after spending several weeks in Baltimore. Preaching at 11 o'clock. Rev. O. N. Alexander, pastor. Mrs. Rachel Thompson, who has been confined to her bed for several days, ia slowly improving'. Mr. Norman Griffin, of Wisjeburg, has taken possession of the store recently purchased from Mr. C. W. Hen-drix. The people of this vicinity wish him success. Mr, Edward Hawkins, who has been under the care of Dr. E. W. Hyde, is ^till unable to be out. Mrs. Gabriel Hayes is confined to the home of her daughter in Baltimore, suffering from muscular rheumatism. Miss Florence Bull has returned to her home after spending the week-end with relatives and friends in Baltimore. Mr. John Cooper will move his family in the near future. The house now occupied by him having been sold by Mr. Thomas Miller to Mr. J. Rosier. Miss Annie Bull visited her sister, Miss Lida Underwood on Tuesday. (Continued on Page 7.)
