When the railroad stike became a reality, and there was need for electric motors with which to manufacture their products, the Black & Decker Mfg.. Co. at Towson Heights, took "the bull by the horns" and in a "jiffy," a Service Motor truck was hitting the "high jumps" toward Chicago. While it was sent for the purpose of bringing a load of motors back, it left the plant here with a substantian consignment of drills and valve grinders for a firm in the "windy west." MAIL-PLANE FALLS Crashes To Earth In Woods Near Back River—Aviator Escapes Serious Injury. Folks who reside in the vicinity of Back River and who are in the habit of watching the mail plane "go over," had a thrill one day the fore part of the week, when they beheld the giant "bird'' crash to the earth ann land in a woods nearby. The machine, which was on its way from Philadelphia to Washing-ton, was wrecked pretty badly, while thfi aviator was fortunate ti1 escape 'vith but a few scratches and bruises. At a recent meeting of the Board of Prison Control it was decided to allow from 25 to 40 pri%oners of the Maryland Penitentiary to Work on the Reisters-town road, this county. In view of the shortage of labor, the board deemed this the most advisable way of coping with the road situation ir +he State. Requests from other sections have been held under con sideration. The Democratic ballot for the primary election to be held on Monday May 3, will be printed on white paper, while the Republican ballot will be printed on pink. This, and the form to be used, was deccided upon at a meetiner held by th„ Board of Election Supervisors on Wednesday last. It will be necessary to print 22.300 Democratic ballots and 13.000 Republican ones.
