Mrs. Elizabeth Brown died on Monday evening and was buried at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Arcadia. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, George Brown, and one son, Burke, of this place, and two daughters, Misses Anna and Lulu, both of Baltimore. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Myers were visiting in Baltimore on Friday last. Mr. Eddie Brown is able to be out again after an attack of the measles. Mrs. Martha Warner, of Parkton, and children visited the former's brother, Mr. and Mrs. James Wilhelm on Sunday last. Mr. Walter Brown is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown, for the time being. Mr. Brown has a mashed finger, having a portion of the end taken off. Get ready for May 8th, as the wedding bells will ring on that day. The rainy weather is keeping the farmers back with their work. GRANITE. The funeral of Mr. Penn, who died on Friday, took place on Monday from his home. The funeral was the largest ever seen at the Methodist Church, at which the services were held. Mr. Penn was 81 years old last March. He was very well known in this part of the county. A large number of people attended the funeral from Baltimore, Ran-dallstown, Alberton, Mt. Airy and other points. He leaves a widow and three daughters, also three nieces, who made their home with him. The funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. Mr. Moore, of Alberton, where Mr. Penn formerly attended church, before he moved to Granite. Mr. Moore was assisted by the pastor, Mr. Jaggers. Miss Mamie Hughes, of Baltimore, on Sunday visited her uncle, Mr. Sylvester Sutch. Miss Marie Stamm, of Baltimore, spent the week-end with Miss Bernadette Miller. BECKLEYSVILLE. Mr. and Mrs. John Wilhelm and children, of Foreston, were guests on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. William Henry. The Beckleysville Band furnished a number of selections at the store of Mr. William Wisner on Saturday night. Mr. Clarence Alban and Miss Nellie Al-ben visited Mr. and Mrs. William Rosier, of Wiseburg, on Sunday. Mr. Lee Hare visited his mother, Mrs. Dora Hare, on Sunday. Miss Treva Henry entertained a number of friends on Sunday. 4r—JEFFERSONIAN. GLYNDON. 3—JEFFERSONIAN. A Minstrel Show was given in Red Men's Hall by the young people of Trinity Luth-ern Church. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Geist have recently moved to Glyndon to live. The Patrons' Club and The Men's Club, of Reisterstown and Glyndon, met at the Franklin High School on Friday evening.
