| July 31, 1920—Page 6 THE JEFFERSONIAN, TOWSON, MARYLAND. LOCAL CORRESPONDENCE UPPER FALLS. Mr. Frank Streett had a valuable horse stolen from his stable at Brad-shaw last Tuesday. Aa yet he has no trace of it. A band of gypsies camped in the neighborhood the week before and wanted to trade horses. Mr. Streett was offered $250 for the horse a week before it was stolen. Mr. Morgan and family, who lately moved from Taylor's Mountain, has, moved to Green Oak, the home of Miss Minnie Day. Miss Elizabeth K. Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wells, of Oak Dale, Joppa, and Mr. M. Thomas, of Baltimore, were quietly married at St. Stephen's Church by Rev. Father Dacey last Saturday. After they return from a honeymoon trip the couple will reside at their parents* home at Joppa for the summer. Mr. Laurence Riddle, wife and child, of Los Angeles, Cal., are at the home of his father, Mr. W. Riddle. He has a year's vacation and will take a course of study at Johns Hopkins before returning to his home in Californa. Mr. Riddle is the grandson of the late Ish-mael Day, of Civil War fame. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond James and children and Mrs. Wm. French motored from their home in Washington, D. C, and spent the day with their sister, Mrs. George Baldwin Bradshaw. Mr. Charles Monmonier spent several days this week on a fishing trip at Belcamp, Md. St. Stephen's Church picnic will be held on August 7 at the church hall and grounds. Good music, good meals and a good time for all. Misses Mary and Katherine Chapman and Elizabeth Buckingham spent the week-end in Baltimore practicing for choir rehearsals for St. John's choir, Kings/ville. ;A lawn fete and festival for Salem Sunday School will be held on the lawn of Mrs. A. Reynold today. ------------o------------ PARKTON. A surprise party was given Mrs. Elva Armacost on. last Saturday evening by her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Miller, in honor of her birthday. The Parkton baseball team would like to know when the Phoenix boys are coming to finish a game which was not finished on last Saturday. Toward the end of the game when the Phoenix boys saw they were being defeated they left for the station to wait thirty minutes for a train. Stand your ground, boys. Mr. Preston Carr was badly hurt about the face and hands on Sunday night by gasoline catching fire when he lit a match near it. Mr. C. W. Hendrix has moved his family in with Miss Bertha Hendrix until his new house is finished. Mr. Valentine Young, of Hereford, is doing the work. Mrs. Elsie Hendrix, widow of the late William Hendrix, will make her home with her sister, Mm Charles Rosier, in the near future. Mr Scott Miller and Mr. McCaslin, of Washington, spent Sunday with Mr. Miller's sister, of this place. Herbert McCrone, a former resident of this town, but now of the wild and wooly West, stopped on a flying trip to see his former friends. Miss Winifred CDell has returned home after spending a fortnight with friends at Ten Hills. Mrs. R. Triplett is, now very ill, as is also Mrs. Samuel Blade. Mr. M. K. The Junior Order held its picnic and baseball game at Berry's Grove on Wednesday. Mrs. John H. Hayer, who has been quite ill, has now recovered sufficiently to go about her home. » Hay harvest is very much delayed on account of the shortage of labor, but most all have got their wheat hauled in. ... Our Owings Mills mail carrier is out again after being confined to his bed for about two months. --------------o------------- COWENTON. The Ladies' Aid Society of Cowenton M. E. Church will meet next Thursday, August 5th, at the home of Mrs. Annie Edwards. Mm C. W". Proctor spent last Saturday with her sister, Mrs. J. Walter King, of Baltimore. An all-day service will be held at Cowenton M. E. Church Sunday, August 1st; preaching in the morning at 11 o'clock in the afternoon and again in the evening at 8 o'clock. Everybody is welcome. . Mr. Charle T. Neepier has sold his store here to Mr. William Harris and has moved to Catonsville. The Ladies' Aid Society will hold a chicken supper on the church lawn on August 19th, 1920.
