Miss Katie Wilson, who has been visiting her cousin, Miss Helen Rut-ledge, has returned to her home at Conshojhocken, Pa„ accompanied by her aunt, Mrs. Zora Turner and cousin, Miss Blanche Rutledge. Misal Marie Burton, of Glen Arm, who has been visiting friends "here, has returned home, accompanied by Miss Anna Deets. Miss Emma Whetherill, of Baltimore, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Thomas* Gross. Mrs. S. Ellen Kurtz celebrated her 93rd birthday on August 14th. Mrs. Kurtz is the odest member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Mr. Brooks Ward has returned after vesjiting relatives in Baltimore. Miss Elizabeth Deets, who is in training at Union Protestant Infirmary, Baltimore, is spending her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William P. Deets. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sinclair and Miss Nettie Bay, all of Baltimore, were the guests of Miss Grace Bay this week. Mr. John Ward, of Baltimore, is spending his vacation with his parr ents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Ward. able to be about on crutches. The annual reunion of the five Sunday schools of Parkton Circuit of the M. E. Church was] held on Thursday in John W. Trout's grove at Trump. Rev. Milton A. Parker is pastor of the Circuit and as usual, there was a large attendance. UPPER FALLS. The contnued cloudy weather and heavy rains have damaged crops, bridges and roads in this vicinity. Some farmers' potatoes are rotting in the ground and tomatoes rotten before they ripen. The bridge over the Gunpowder falls on the Belair road was badly damaged by the heavy rain of a few weeks ago and has been repaired. Travelers use it now instead of the detour to Harford road. Milton, the eighteen-year-old son of Mr. Ringold, of Harford county, who was killed by lightning last Monday at Magnolia: Proving Ground, was buried from St. Stephen's Catholic Church last Thursday. Mr. Hal Day, of Boston, visited his aunt, Miss C. B. Day last Saturday. Mrs. Maud Brandt and Mrs. Lula Hammond have returned home after a two weeks' stay at Ocean Cty.. Miss Teresa Eichelberger, whn spent several weeks with her cousin, Miss1 Lillian Morgan, at Green Oak, has returned to her home in Delaware county, Pa. Mrs. Bergan Dilworth and two little daughters, Isabell and Margaret, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Fitzpatrick, Bel Camp, Md. St. John's P. E. Church, Kingsville, held their fair and festival last night and will be continued tonight. GL.EIVARM. Mr. John Pearce is very ill at his home, near here. He is being attended by his family physician, Dr. J. S. Green. Misls Eliza^ Bur ton is visiting at the home of Mr/ and Mrs. H. A. LeBrun, of Towson. Mrs. George Knight and her daughters, Blanche and Beulah, were guests of Miss Lora Phinney, of Carney, on Monday. Miss Catherine" Rever has returned to her home in Philadelphia after spending two weeks with her" aunt, Mrs. J. Schneider. Mr. Samuel Hartley, the rural mail carrier, on the Glenarm route, is ill at hi's) home. Mr. Thomas Pearce is substituting for Mr. Hartley during his absence. Miss Erma Martin spent the week end with Miss Elsie Fowble. Mr. Roscoe Jones visited Mr. Irving Fowble on Saturday last. Mr. and Mrs. George Lippy entertained a number of friends on Sunday. There will be Sunday School tomorrow morning at 10 o'cclock. Mr. Russell Miller spent the weekend in Annapolisl on business. WHITE HALL.. Mr. William Hess, of Blue Mount, on Monday shot an eagle which measured 5 feet 4 inches from tip to tip. The bird has visited at Blue Mount for three successive days. Mr. Hess shot at it on Sunday, but without effect, but kept watch for it on Monday and succeeded in killing it. He gave it to Mr. C. Evans Wiley, cashier of the White Hall National Bank, who will have it mounted. The Bethel Presbyterian Sunday School held its! annual picnic on Wednesday at Druid Hill Park. Qute a number of people from this section will attend the horse show at the Bonsai farm today. Miss Bettie Dytle has returned to Baltimore after an extended visit to relatives and friends at White Hall. Mr. J. James Anderson is confined to hi^ room "wrth an attack of rheumatism.
