THE JEFFERSONIAN, TOWSON, MARYLAND Saturday, July 12, 1924—Page 7 VOLUNTEER FIREMEN TO HOLD JULY MEETING AT OWINGS MILLS. On the evening of July 16th members of the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen's Association will meet in the Assembly Hall of Rosewood Training School at Owings Mills for their monthly gathering. The August meeting of the Association will be held at Violetville on the 28th. 70-YEAR-OLD INMATE ESCAPES FROM SPRING GROVE. Billy Slee, 70 years old, an inmate of Spring Grove State Hospital near Catonsville, was found wandering on Frederick road by police. He was taken to the police station in an exhausted condition. Slee refused to give any information as to his identity. Police turned him over to Charles Smallwood, an attendant, who took him back to Spring Grove. ASK ONE-FARE LINE. The recent carfare raise order of the P. S. C. extended the single fare to the city limits in every direction, Linwood L. Clark, attorney for the complainants, told the commission. „The situation is caused because the Lorraine Electric Railways Co. owns the tracks from Hillsdale to Lorraine Cemetery on which the United operates the cars, it is said. Patrons are charged the 7% cent fares to Hillsdale and 7 cents to the end of the line, Clark said. He asked that the line be operated as a unit with one fare. TOWSON WOMAN ILL. Mrs. C. The outcome of the match seems to be a deep, dark secret, but reports have come from Hamilton, Overlea and Raspeburg of numerous broken windows. On the charge of throwing glass bottles on a highway, John Smith, colored, -was fined $10 and costs at the Catonsville Police Court by Justice H. C. Andrae. OLD COCKEYSVILLE HOTEL TO BE TOURIST INN. The old Cockeysville Hotel at Cockeysville, recently denovated by W. C. Gill, has been leased by Harry Funk, a former restaurant proprietor of Baltimore city, who will operate it as a tourist inn. ----------o---------- AMALGAMATED IMPROVEMENT . PERMANENT^ S ORGANIZED. The Improvement Association of Baltimore County, an amalgamation of various community associations, was organized permanently at the Catonsville High School. S. Powers Smith presided at the meeting during the adoption of the constitution and the election of officers. Those named were: President, S. Duncan Black, of Towson; first vice-president, Prank L. Mohler, Catonsville; second vice-president, William H. Bosley, Butler; secretary Raymond A. Dukes, Pikesville, and Treasurer, Jean Milton Brooks, of Cockeysville. The association will hold two meetings a year, on the third Tuesdays in April and October. Forty delegates attended the meeting from Butler, Catonsville, Cockeysville, Pikesville, Relay, Halethorpe, Towson, Carney and White Hall. ----------o---------- MISS REBECCA BUfef RETURNS TO HOME IN CHAMBERSBURG.
