LOOKNG FOR LOST DIAMOND, WOMAN IS
RESCUED AFTER LEAPING INTO RESERVOK
Had Brooded For Months Over Daughter, Who Is Patient
At Sheppard-Pratt Hospital—Arrested
For Disorderly Conduct.
For 16 months, according to members of her family, Mrs. Sarah Amol-&ky, 44 years old, has been brooding over the condition of her daughter, Miss Estelle Amolsky, 19 years old, who is a patient at the Sheppard-Pratt Hospital.
Often, according to Lazarus Amolsky, Mrs. Amolskys husband, every occupant of the Amolsky home at 820 Brooks Lane, Baltimore, was awakened by Mrs. Amolsky's cry:
"Estelle! Oh, Estelle!"
One night that cry was heard even oftener than usual. But Mrs. Amolsky, according to her husband, appeared to be rested and calm the next morning when he gave her $15 to pay a grocery bill. Then he left the house.
With a clatter of hoofs, Jerome Kahn and Howard L. Crise rode into the drive along the reservoir in Druid Hill Park. A colored stable boy rode a few paces in the rear. Near the statute of Christopher Columbus a woman was standing, her outstretched hand pointing toward the water.
Something in the attitude of the woman, according to Kahn, who is

pears old and who lives in the rne Court Apartments, caused lTTTTr^k jump from his horse and run to her side. The colored boy followed him, tying both horses to the iron fence around the reservoir. Crise, who lives at 2619 North Charles street, rode a short distance ahead.
Kahn, who is the son of Moses Kahn, of Old Town, said the woman pointed at the water again as he approached. She told him her name. It was Mrs. Amolsky. Then, according to Kahn, she said:
"I have lost the diamond setting in my ring. Will you help me over the fence so that I can look for it?"
Kahn and the colored boy assisted Mrs. Amolsky over the fence. They remained in the drive.
With a shrill cry, according to Kahn, Mrs. Amolsky ran toward the water and jumped into the reservoir. Kahn vaulted the fence. The colored boy was at his side. Kahn, without removing his clothes, plunged in after the woman. Crise, attracted by the scream, came galloping back.
Kahn swam to the spot where Mrs. Amolsky had gone down twice. When she reappeared on the surface he seized her. She fought him off, according to Kahn, and cried:
"Let me go down!"
But Kahn swam toward the shore, holding the woman in one arm. Crise was coming toward him. A short distance from the short the woman was passed from Kahn to Crise. Then both' men lefted her over the fence and into the arms of Park Officer George Bowen.
Soon Patrolman James Santmyer, of the Northern district, was on the scene. Patrolman Walter B. Jones, of the Northwestern district, joined him. Mrs. Amolsky was given first aid treatment and was revived. Kahn and Crise, with their clothes soaking wet, mounted their horses and galloped away.
A technical charge of disorderly conduct was lodged against Mrs. Amolsky when she was first taken to the Northern Police Station. Dr. Michael A. Abrams, of 2360 Eutaw Place, was summoned. Mrs. Amolsky was taken to the Hebrew Hospital. The charge was withdrawn.

It is significant that on the Day of Atonement the ancient Israelites were commanded to blow the trumpet (schofar) as a sign of the year of jubilee, when all debtors and slaves were released from the domination of sin.
October 12, the happy festival of the Tabernacles, will be ushered in, while October 2 0 marks the eighth day of the festival and is known as Feast of the Conclusion.
