PUa 3004 ing here about an hour when they left for the neighborhood of Bob Gilmor's, where the gentry were lying and being handsomely entertained by the friends of these gentlemen (?). An exceedingly happy time was had of course, but they were obliged to move on that the trails on the Philadelphia Railroad might be intercept- j ed on the next morning on their way to Philadelphia, agreeably; to a previous arrangement no ] doubt. After leaving the residence of Robert Gilmor, a man who has done more to injure the Government than any fifty rebels in Baltimore county, they proceeded up Dulaney's Valley, robbing Union men and leaving rebdls unmolested ; they entered the Long Green Valley, and camped on the farm of Joshua C. Price, Esq., until 3 o'clock on Monday morning, when they proceeded on their way towards Mr. Day's house and Gunpowder bridge, burning both. At the former place they received an exceedingly warm reception, as will be seen in another article. After having accomplished all they intended, or having stolen all the horses aand dry goods that Union men had, they came back by way of Towsontown on Monday, having Gen. Franklin a prisoner, where they were met by a great many of our rebel sympathizers, both male and female; but their pleasures were soon ended by meeting a squad of Union cavalry, when a skirmish ensued, the result of which is really not known, except that one rebel saddle was emptied and another rebel had a bullet through his ear. '' "Entree of Chivalry Into Towsontown—On Sunday week last, about 5 o'clock P. M., a detachment of the chivalry, known as rebel raiders, entered our quiet village and stayed about an hour, calling at a few places where it is said they received better than they asked for. They were fairly worshiped by some of the young ladies and by one or two older ones. They again came through here on the next nigh, having Gen. Franklin and staff in charge as prisoners, when the whole rebel portion of the town was out to meet them; aye, some of those who were previously considered ladies were sitting about on stones an dboardwalks awaiting their arrival. Their entree was of course greeted with clapping hands, waiving of handkerchiefs and repeated cheers for Harry Gilmor, Jeff. Davis, &c, by the would-be ladies.
