The intent of the title is a bit ironical as these occurrences are not the sort marked with the calm that is supposed to go with the day of rest. "Of A Sunday" is being staged by Lester Lonergan, who directed "Abraham Lincoln" and "East is West" for Mr. Harris. The scenes are by Livingston Piatt, designer of all Mr. Harris' sets for the past few years. The new comedy will be seen here the week of November 3rd and will then go to New York for its metropolitan premiere. ----------o---------- (k/sUyKSlKJ an» v®9 sue? Some learned professor delved into fun as a science and brought forth a volume of several hundred pages on the art of deriving comedy. Clayton and Lennie have not read one word of the book nor have they spent one second of their time in analyzing fun as a science. To them they find it as natural as breathing and that is the only kind of comedy worth laughing at and it is only possible with natural comedians of different types. Clayton and Lennie are of the eccentric variety and the kind bordering on a class known in vaudeville as "nuts," that is, they are irrational and substitute nonsense for sense, but it is this sort of comicality that has made one of-the laughing hits of vaudeville. There is no more distinctive comedienne in vaudeville than Miss Lil-1^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^_ lian Shaw, and few acts are more j There's many an auto equipped with The country is crowded with weakling diminishers, And plastered with want-ads for resolute finishers. Her dialect ballads of the Italian-American have come to be vaudeville classics. She opens her act with a Hebrew character portrayal in song. In this she establishes herself as a comedienne. She sings with the necessary props a song of the woes and worries of a young mother and from this theme gets a wealth of fun. Among other songs is "I Gotta De Rock," sung with great gusto in Italian dialect. In cities where Miss Shaw has appeared she is alwavs welcomed back and her first appearance is bound to win the favor of her audience. AUTO SALESMAN WINS WATCH. GOLD William R. Courtenay Jenifer appeared before Judge Frank I. Duncan in the Circuit Court at Towson Thursday and requested that all the judges of the court, Chief Judge T. Scott Offutt and Associate Judges Frank I. Duncan and Walter W. Preston, sit during the trial of Mrs. Antoinette Fedeli, charged with the murder of her husband, which is scheduled to begin November 6. William Curran, counsel for Mrs. Fedeli, was with Mr. Jenifer at the time. Judge Duncan, in reply, stated that it was unusual to ask for a full bench except in capital cases and intimated to the State's Attorney that the court would like to know, before acceding to his request, what decree of punishment the State would ask for. The State's Attorney thereupon replied that it was the intention of the State to ask for a conviction of murder in the first degree. A jury trial having been prayed by the accused, counsel asked the court to direct the Sheriff to summon a number of talismen on the day of trial, which request was granted. Among Mr. Carnegie's innumerable Scotch stories is one about a ;addie of St. Andrews. This caddie's wife—so Mr. Car-laegie's story runs—was much troubled by her husband's loose way of (ife. He could never have a good lay on the links but he must end it with a wet night at the tavern. So, ;o cure him, the woman lay in wait >n the road one evening, dressed in K white sheet. When her husband appeared she p-ose trom behind a hedge, an awful gvhite figure, with outspread arms. "Who the de'll are you?" asked [he intemperate caddie. "I'm Auld Nickie," said the fig-glire, in a hollow voice. "Gie's a shake o' yer hand, then," laid the tipsy caddie. "I'm married jae a sister o' yours. Ten records were broken and five established at Bay Shore in the greatest aerial pageant in history. Ten thousand persons banked the beach at Bay Shore and watched the airmen perform. Speed, distance and weight-carrying records were broken. In addition Lieut. O. B. Hardison, piloting the PN-7 seaplane, established five new marks in one flight. His plane carried 4,040 pounds, the heaviest load ever borne by an airplane. His records are for various distances and weights. George T. Cuddihy broke world's maximum speed record 300 kilometers straightaway, course lying over the heads of the crowd. He attained the speed of 188.129 miles an hour. The old record was 174.07 miles an hour. The Schneider Cup race was won by Lieut. Ralph A. Ofstie, whose plane was the only one to finish the flight of 500 kilometers. Lieutenant Cuddihy, who started, dropped out at the 300-kilometer mark.
