Page 12—Saturday, April 26, 1924. 1 -iw THE JEFFERSONIAN, TOWSON, MARYLAND THREE HUNDRED ACRES IN "LOWER END" TO BE CONVERTED INTO COMMUNITY OF HOMES New Development Near Sparrows Point To Be Known As "Lodge Forest"—Bay Shore Car Line Runs Through Property. ? Mere than 300 acres of virgin woodland along the water front ad-pacent to Sparrows Point soon will be converted into a little city when plans of the Bay Front Development Company are carried out this spring and summer. Lodge Forest, the name of the new development, will be designed particularly to meet the needs of the workers of Sparrows Point and their families, according to James Cary Thompson, president of the concern. The homes to be built will attract large numbers of Norwegians and Finns who desire to live near the water, he said. The Bay Shore car line runs directly through the property for more than three-fourths of a mile, and all of the homes will be within walking distance of the nearby industrial plants. Mr. Thompson estimates that more than $10 0,000 will be expended in the development within the next 18 months for roads, streets, homes and other improvements. Ample facilities for the amusement and entertainment of those purchasing homes in this section .will be obtainable. Sums will be spent for a beach and landing place and a picnic ground or small park will be laid out at a convenient point in the development. Lode Forest devtelopment fronts on North Point road for a mile, starting at the intersection of North Point ro?.d and Sparrows Point road. The woods which abound in the vicinity have never been cut. Altogether it contains 310 acres. Six-room bungalows of pleasing appearance will be built throughout the project. The homes will be modern in every respect. Two advantages of the development pointed out by Mr. Thompson are the excellent car line facilities and the water front privileges. The Post Office Outing Club and a popular beach adjoin the property. Workmen now are engaged in clearing the brush from the property and actual construction work will start shortly. An excellent automobile drive will run directly through the site. The new development comprises all of the land that formed the old Turner and Shunk estates and for years has been known as Lodge Farms. The Bay Front Development Company purchased the estate from John M. Higthe, trustee. CARD PARTY HELD FOR BENEFIT OF CHURCH. One night this week a girl about 14 asked William Brooks, a colored lad of Towson, how she could get to Cowenton. It appears that the girl went to a movie show in Baltimore City and under the impression that she could get a bus from Towson to her home came here. Brooks took her to the home of Miss Dorothy Bruff, who is associated with the Children's Aid Society, and after giving the girl supper Miss Bruff took her to Cowenton in her auto. The Association met early this month, elected officers and outlined work to be done at the next meeting. Among plans to be discussed are those pertaining to improvements to the Joppa Road, between Harford and Belair roads, securing better car service and assuring erection of a nev^school at Parkville. New lights have been installed along the Harford road as far out as the old Nine Mile House through efforts of the improvement body and no accidents have occurred along this road since. DAMAGE SUIT MAY BE INSTITUTED. Due to the malicious destruction of his property, Joe Tracey, who hails from up around Butler, may enter suit for damages against "Luke" Pearson, knight of the waste basket and boss of the broom at the "Jeff" plant. Tracey, who is employed at the Black & Decker plant in East Towson, is a daily passenger in "Luke's" tin chariot, both residing at Butler, and while enroute to the county seat one morning recently Luke hit a rut in the road which sent Joe "sky high," and when he landed back he found he was minus the seat of his trousers. The mishap was caused by a spring poking through the seat of Luke's machine and it becoming caught in Joe's pants, naturally, when he ascended heaven-ward it got in its dirty work. »??+?«»««+»+*»*««**««*fr**4 r 2500 TONS Galvanized Flat and Corrugated Sheets For Garages and Barns WM.
