They didn't know much about this, and they were glad when Uncle Wiggily hopped along and helped them. At last the Snow Man was finished and Uncle Wiggily started home. "We'll call the fellows to look at our Snow Man," bleated Billie the goat. a tomtit Pictured by LANG CAMPBELL -"-—^-^—i-~—— ¦ ¦-----'-----------!M>//s s 2. Uncle Wiggily had not hopped very far toward his hollow stump bungalow when, all of a sudden, there .was a rustling in the bushes and out popped the Fuzzy Fox. "Oh, I mustn't let the Fox nibble my ears!" thought the bunny. "I'll run and hide behind the Snow Man. Perhaps the big Snow Man will scare away the Fox!" So Uncle Wiggily ran as fast as he could toward the Snow Man. "I'll get you!" howled the Fox. i. Reaching the big Snow Man well ahead of the Fox, Uncle Wiggily leaped behind the white image of snow and hid himself. Up ran the Fox, but he couldn't see the bunny, and he never thought of looking for the rabbit gentleman behind the Snow Man. "1 wonder where Uncle Wiggily went?" whispered the Fox. "1'nrso hungry to nibble his ears! I'll wait a while and he may come back! 1 must catch him!" <«*&>:£-. 4. "1 think I can play a trick on that Fox, If he doesn't turn around and see me!" thought Uncle Wiggily. Quietly the bunny reached out and took the Snow Man's broom. Then, raising the broom high in the air, the bunny brought it down on the head of the Fox. "Oh, dear me!" howled the Fox, "I guess the moon must have fallen! 1 see a lot of stars!" And the Fox crumpled up in a heap and went fast asleep. 5. No sooner had Uncle Wiggily put the Fox to sleep, than along came the Skillery Scallery Alligator, with a fur tippet around his neck so he wouldn't catch cold. "I want to catch Uncle Wiggily—that's who 1 want to catch!" bellowed the 'Gator. The bad chap saw the Fox lying in the snow. "I .wonder why the Fox went to sleep'" thought the 'Gator. Then Uncle Wiggily reached out with his broom and—and— 6. All of a sudden Uncle Wiggily gave the broom a shove. The broom gave the Alligator a push, and the Alligator fell over on his nose, ker-bumpo! "Ouchte! Wowchie!" howled the bad chap. "That Snow Man must have come to life and have given me a push! I can't catch Uncle Wiggily when my eyes are full of snow!" howled the bad chap. Uncle Wiggily, safe behind the Snow Man, twinkled his pink nose. 7. Away ran the Skillery Scallery Alligator with his fur neck piece and the humps on his tail. "1 don't see why the Fox doesn't wake up and come with me!" thought the 'Gator. Then, while Uncle Wiggily was still hiding behind the big, white Man, along came the Bob Cat. "1 smell rabbit!" howled the Bob Cat. "I wonder where it is? I must nibble some ears!" Uncle Wiggily couldn't help laughing! S. All of a sudden Uncle Wiggily whanged the big paw full of snow down on the Bob Cat's head when the bad chap wasn't looking. "Oh, Wo wait! Scowzie!" howled the bad chap. "This must be a blizzard! Oh, I'm caught in a terrible snow storm!" Just then the Fox awakened from his sleep. "That's a magical Snow Man!" howled the Fox. "He broomed me!" The bunny gentleman got ready to run home now. |, The Fox sat up and rubbed his eyes. The Bob Cat dug the snow off his head and stood up. The Alligator came slowly back. Before this Uncle Wiggily had gotten safely away. The three bad chaps stood like "tit-tat-toe, all in a row," looking at the Snow Man. "He must come, to life when he pleases, to do favors for Uncle Wiggily," said the Fox, sorrowfully "1 guess he does!" sighed the Bob Cat and 'Gator. And if the postage stamp doesn't stick a lollypop on,the end of an icicle so it freezes the jumping jack's teeth, the next pictures and story will be about UNClje WIGGILY'S GOING COASTING © Maryland State Archives mdsa_sc3410_1_81-0815.jpg
