heart of that rich and well known tract of
country, called the Forest of Prince George's,

at U o'clock, in conformity to a decree of the

ter date, in favor of Joshua Longstreth, and
by him indorsed ; they were likewise indors-
ed by the subscriber. Payment being stop-
ped, they can be of no use to any but the
owners ; should any person have found the
notes, by delivering them to the subscriber,

A N . A C T
For the punishment of Forgery and for other
p-trposes-
WHEREASithas been represented to this
general assembly, that the crime of forging
bank notes and negotiable notes hath greatly
increased, and the punishment already provid-
ed by law, not being thought sufficient to pre-
vent the commission of the crime, for reme-
dy thereof
BE it enacted by the general-assembly qf Ma-
ryland, That any person who shall with afrati-
dulent intent, employ an artist to engrave or
etch any plate, in imitation of the note or notes
of any established bank within this state, or of
any bank which may hereafter be established
within this state, or which are or may be es-
tablished by law in any of the United States,
or any person engaged in engraving or etching
such plate or plates, or any person in any man- ,
ner engaged in striking- impressions from such
plate or plates, or any person who shall affix
to such notes, fraudulent or forged signatures,
or any person who shall be in any manner
co f-rnedin the altering, forging- or counter-
feiting, any note of any bank now exit-ting with-
in this state, orotany bank which may hereaf-
ter be established in this state, or any person
who may pass within this state, forged or
counterfeited notes (knowing them to be such)
purporting to be the genuine notes of a bank
regularly constituted within any of the United
States, or any person who may pass as genu-
ine any note purporting to be a note of a hank
which does not exist, or shall pass as genuine "
negotiable notes, any forged or counterfeited
negotiable note or paper whatsoever, or who
shall erase ur alter any genuine negotiable note
or neg liable paper, or any 'endorsement there- .
upon ; or shall tender in payment, or in any
way ucter, any such erased, altered, or coun-
terfeited note or notes, or negotiable paper
(knowing si.ch bill m-nute, or negotiable pa-
per, or tiie endorsement ther«e condemned to death with

Miscellaneous Oratorio.
THE public are respectfully informed, that
on Friday evening, the JOtii instant, a per
formance t,f original aud selected Vocal Mu-
sic will take place in Christ Church, with
Instrumental Accompaniments, by a number
of professional gentlemen and amateurs.
The association, which einbraco™,ie prin-
cipal part of the vocal performer* in this
city, has for its object CHARITY—It being
intended to place the proceeds arising from the
performance in the hands of the mayor of the
city, to be incorporated with any other funds
which may be raised lo alle >iate tbe sufferings
of the Poor, by furnishing them with fuel
and other necessaries during the inclemency
of the present winter.

pective newspapers «t Wednesday, and in the
bills of the day.

Six Dollars Reward
WAs iost some days since, on the road
from Baltimore to Annapolis a gilt SABRE,
with a handle ornamented with shell. It is
suspended by a black leather belt embroider-
ed with gold, and a gilt plate with an an-
chor. On the lower part of the hilt of the
Sabre is written,

There is also with it a golden GALLOON,
with fringes hanging down, attached to it.
Whoever will deliver said sabre either to
the commander, "Krohm, at Annapolis, 01 to
Mr. Le Loup, French consul at Baltimore,
shall receive the above reward.
