WUEREASlthas been represented to this
general assembly, tliat the.crime of forging
bank notes and negotiable notes hath greatly
increased, and the punishment already provid-
ed by law, not. being thought sufficient to pre-
vent the commission of the crime, for reme-
dy thereof
BE it enacted by the gerkrat assembly rf Ma-
ryland, That any '.vrson who shall with a frau-
dulent intent, employ an artist to engrave or
etch arty plate, in imitation of the note or notes
of any established bank within this suae, or of
tor. Sank which, may hereafter be established
within this state, or which are or maybe es-
tablished by law in any of the United States,
or any person engaged in engraving or etching
such pUtteoe plates, or any person in any man-
ner engaged in striking impressions from such
ir plates,'or a^v person who shall affix
to such nofe,s, fraudulent or forged signatures,
or any person who skull he in any manner
concerned;!)! the altering, forging or counter-
feiting, any note of any bank now existing with-
in ihbi state, or of any bank which may hereaf-
ter be established in this state, or any person
who may pass within this slat*, forged or
counterfeited notes (knowing them to be such)

ine any note purporting to be a note of a bank

upon ; or shall tender in payment, or in any
way utter, any such erased, altered, or coun-
terfeited note or notes, or negotiable, paper

ed, forged, counterfeited, erased or falsified)
with intention to defraud the said bank or
banks, or any other person, shall be adjudged

Edwin's Anatomical Prints.
A report having been industriously circu-
lated, that the above Prints are sold in Phi-
ladelphia at G dollars, a iViend to the ingeni-
ous artist, whose exertions are thus attempt-
ed to be defeated, thinks it proper to assure
the subscribers in this city, that the assertion
is untrue. The price of the English engrav-
ings is two guineas; Mr Edwjn's are sold at
eight dollars. The subscription p:'p. r will

louger, when the price will fce increased to
those, who have not subscribed.

the " Act for the relief of sundry insolvent
debtors," prsscd at No, ember session, 1805,
on the terms mentioned in the said act ; a
schedule of his proporty and a list of his ere.
ditors, on oath, as far as he can ascertain
them, as directed by the said act, being an
nexed to his petition ; and the said county
court being satisfied by competent testimony,
that the said John hleale, has resided the two
preceding years within the state of Maryland,
prior to the passage of the said act; and the
said jfohn NeaU, at the time of presenting his
petition as aforesaid, having produced to the
said court, the assent in writing of so many
of his creditors as havs due to them the
amount of two-thirds of the debts due by him
at the. time of pissing the said act.
It is thereupon adjudged and ordered, by
the. said court, that the said John Neaie (by
causing a copy of this order to be inserted
in the Federal Gazette, every other day, un-
til the fourth day of April next) give notice
to his creditors to appear before the said coun-
ty court, at the Court-Uousc in the said coun-
ty, at ten o'clock in the forenoon of the said
fourth day of April next, for the purpose of
recommending a trustee for their benefit, on
the said John Neala, then and there taking
the oath by the said act prescribed for deliver-
ing up his property.
