ing an endorsed note of mine, dated Novem-
ber 13th, at six months, for 2000 dollars, giv-
en for the use of Richard Williams, and
which is now in the hands of his agents, as
the said note, by an error, exceeds the real
amount of goods received, and of course the
just amount will oulv be paid.

scriber's cellar was broken into, and between
15 and 20 pieces of Flannel stolen therefrom.
They were principally red and yellow, and
the greater part from the manufactory of
Wiltiam Rawson Uf Co. whose names were
stampt on the lead, attached to each piece
The above reward will be given for the de-
livery of the goods, and the apprehension and
conviction of the thief, or thieves ; or trm dol-
lars for each piece of Flannel recovered and
delivered to RICHARD SEABROOK,

THE Subscriber (in virtue of a decrae of
the honorable the chancellor of Maryland,
mads in the cause of Robert Fergusson v. S.
Lucket) will on Friday, the 27th day of Fe-
bruary next, at 12 o'clock, sell at the court-
house of Charles county, in the state of Ma-
ryland, to the highest bidder, all the estate
and interest of Samuel I.iicket, of the said
county, in and to all those tracts or parcels of
land, lying in Durham Parish, and county
aforesaid, called Lucket's Slipe, Lucket's
Hazard, Lucket's Addition, and Lucket's
Chance, containing by estimation, four hun
dred acres ; and in and to another tract or par-
cel, lying in the said Parish, callc. Frog's
Nest, containing about one hundred & twen-
ty-five acres.
The terms of sal", prescribed by the de-
cree, are, that the. purchaser or purchasers
pay the purchase money on the day of sde,
or on the day of the ratification thereof, by the
chancellor, which, if ratified, shall be just
five weeks from the subscriber's report of the
said sale—And on obtaining the chancellor's
ratification of the said sale, and on paying tiie
whole of the purchase mone.y, the subscriber
shall execute a deed to the purchaser or pur-
chasers In fee simple, conveying to him or
them all the right, title, and interest of the
said Samuel Luck t, free and disciared of

For the punishment of Forgery and for other
p-.rposes.
WHEREAS it has been represented to this
general assembly, that the crime of forging
bank notes and negotiable notes hath greatly
increased, and the punishment already provid-
ed by law, not be hie thought sufficient to pre-
vent the commission of the crime, for reme-
dy thereof
BE it enacted by the general assembly if Ma-
ryland, That any person who shall with a frau-
dulent intent, employ an artist to engrave or
etch any plate, in imitation of the note or notes
of any established bank withi - I his st t-, or of
anyoank which may hereafter be established
within this state, or which are or n ay be i s
tablished bylaw in any of the United S ates,
or an;, person engaged in en'gru* ing or etching
such plate or plates, or anv perso'iin any ' in-
ner engaged in striking impressions froo s eh
plate or plates, or any oerson who shall iffis
to such notes, fraudulent or forged signatures,
or any person who shall be in any m mn< r
concerned in the altering, forging or counter.

way utter, airy such erased, altered, or coun-
terfeited note or notes, or negotiable paper
(knowing such bill or note, or negotiable pa-
per, or the endorsement thereon, to be alter-
ed, forged, counterfeited, erased or falsified)
witli intention to defraud the said banker

a felon, and shall De condemned to death with-
