Feb. 3. 41,5(4 PROSPECTUS Of a Daily Newspaper, to be published on Fell's Point, entitled FELL'S-POINT COMMERCIAL ADVERTISER. THE editors of this paper having received flattering support from some of the most re- spectable men on Fell's-Point, and presum- ing on the patronage of their fellow-citizens trenerally, have been induced to throw them- selves iqion the generosity of an enlightened public for encouragement. From the many obvious advantages to be derived from such an establishment as is contemplated by the editors, they entertain the most snnguine expectations of success. It is intended their paper shall be dedi- cated chiefly to the interests of the commer- cial part of the community. As they will have advantages which no other printers in the city of Baltimore can possibly possess, in the obtaining marine intelligence, their pa- per cannot fail of being interesting to the merchant. Correspondences will be established on a permanent.footing with men of intellisrencp and opportunity, m dillerent parts of the U. States, and, should sufficient encouragement be offered, in Europe, by which they will obtain the latest and most important informa- tion without delay ; in short, every exertion that lies in their power will be made to render the " Commercial Advertiser," inte- resting- and amusing. They do not deem it necessary to give a detail to the reader of their political opinions j for whaterer political sentiments they may priva'ely profess, the promulgation of them through a public print, they conceive, could produce no beneficial effect either to the read- er or to themselves:—they are anxious for the prosperity of the U. States ; and whilst the sentiments of their hearts are favorable to the Union, their minds shall never be swayed by the bickerings of political demagogues To preserve their paper free and uncontaminatcd from the ebullitions of partisans, will be their peculiar study. To miscellaneous producti- ons, and disquisitions on subjects which may be productive of utility, couched in a decent style, free access will be given to their col- ums—but communications injurious to the re- putation of individuals, will always be re- jected. As the editors are the first who have ven- tured on an establishment of this nature for some time past at Fell's-Point, they feel concious that the fostering aid of its citizens will be extended towards thein with cheer- fulness—and that their establishment will not he permitted to dwindle into nothing from the. want of the the patronage of their fellow-citi- zens. Fell's-Point has now become too po- pulous, too wealthy, anil too respectable, to be entirely dependent on the town for all the printing- which it requires—They are confi- dent that few Could he found who would not rather contribute to the support of a paper in the midst of then, dedicated ts their in- terest, and offering so many advantages as the present does, than be subject to the in- convenience of walking near a mile for all printing requisite for their use—Besides the inconveniences which will be removed, the boast of supporting a paper of their own, we are persuaded, would have no inconsiderable weight lit the minds of their fellow-citizens of iell's-Point. They consider it as quite unnecessary to dilate upon their own capacities—trial alone will be sufficient to convince their patrons of the correctness or incorrectness of their pre- tensions. A long and steady application to thee business, emboldens them to come for- ward with confidence, pledging themselves to execute whatever a generous public may lie pleased to favor them with, in a stile of workmanship and correctness of judgment, not inferior to any other office in Baltimore. j'OHN WANE. ALEXANDER LUCAS. TERMS. The Fell's-Point Commercial Advertiser shall lie printed on a royal size paper, with good mate rials. The price to subscribers will be seven dol- lars per annum, payable half yearly. The pa- per will be issued as soon as arrangements can be made.
