Copy of a letter from Rotterdam of Jan. 9, 1807, to a. bouse in this'town. '« We addressed you per this same oppor- tunity to which we refer. We . wrote you that several American vessels had been arre'sted on account of their having touched in England. This had naturally created a .doubt whether American vessels that had touched in British ports, would be admitted in our ports ; and therfore an ex- planation was asked from the king's minis- ter, at the Hague ; who has answered, that American vessels under such circumstances ¦would be admitted as heretofore, provided their papers are in order, and they have not taken on board any thing,in England—and whatever letters should be put on board in England, must immediately on.arrival, be delivered to the commissary of marine, all the ship's papers and documents must be pro- duced, even the bills of the light money, &c. in England, and none be concealed— a:: otherwise it might give a suspicion as if the voyage was illegal. Please to have this published, as there is no time now to write to other friends. We are, &c. T. & A. CREMER." PHILADELPHIA, March 24. Arrived, brig Elizap Vanneman, St. Tho- mas, 25 days. FEDERATi GAZETTE. WEDNESDAY, MAHCH 23. •We have given to-day many extracts from the late papers received by the Hercules. It may not be improper here to remark, that these papers confirm, unequivocally, the ad- vantages gained by the Russians. We re- gret, however, that they do not contain the French bulletins. It appears from these pa- pers that the battles of Pultusk and Goly- min were but one battle, and that only one division of the Russian army had been en- gaged : the main body were fresh, and "ea- ger for an opportunity to chastise the in- vader." The general impression in England was, that government had conceded too much in the treaty with America; on which subject long and animated debates had consumed much time in parliament. From our attentive correspondent, we have received (by captain Gould) Norfolk papers to the 2tst instant inclusive. Inte- resting extracts from which will be found under the Norfolk head. The following is a list of American vessels advertised at Liverpool, on the 12th Fe- bruary last, ready and preparing to sail for their respective ports.
