And be it enacted and ordained, That when any person shall think himself aggrieved bythe judgmentof the inspector, such person may apply to the mayor, who shall issue his war- rant, directed to three disinterested persons, well skilled in thegoodnessorqualityand well curing of salted beef or pork, to review andex- aminethe same, which said three persons after having taken an' oath of office a.; reviewer., shall carefully view and examine the same, and if they or any two of them shall declare the same to be sound and merchantable, then, and in such case, the said inspector shall crass out the broad arrow, and put such brand on the cask containing said sailed provisions as; they or any two of them shall adjudge and determine : And the corporation shall allowed six cents per barrel for st rage, if stored, and if upon an appeal and review- as aforesaid, the judgment of the inspector shall be confirmed, the person appealing shall pay the expence of such storage, and shall also pay the same if an appeal shall not be prosecuted : and if the judgment of the inspector shall be reversed then the corporation shall defray the charge of the storage. VII. And be it enacted and ordained, That it shall not be lawful for any person to ship or lade on board of any vessel, forexpor- tation any casks of the said salted provisions, so marked with the broad arrow, or to sell, ship, or lade on board of any ship or vessel for exportation any of the casks of salted provisions not examined, and branded as aforesaid, under the penalty of ten dollars for each and everv barrel so exported, or laden on board of any ship, or other vessel for exportation, nor shall it be lawful for a- ny person or persons to purchase or sell in the city of Baltimore, any cask or casks of salted beef, or pork, not previously inspect- ed, examined or branded, under the penalty of ten dollars for each cask so sold within the said city. VIII. And be it enacted and ordained. That the said inspector shall net purchase, directly or indirectly, any salted beef or pork by him condemned, or any beef or pork whatsoever ; other than for. his own family's use ; nor shall he directly or indi- rectly be concerned in. making, vending, or furnishing any cask or casks or purcha,- ing or vending any salt, for the purpose i5l packing or repacking or curing any beef or pnrk, brought to, packed in, or exported from the city or port of Baltimore, nor shall lie be concerned in the cooperage of any casks containing beef or pork that shall be inspected in said city, under the penalty of forfeiting for each and every offence a- forcsaid the sum of ten dollars. I IX. And be it enacted and ordained, That if any person shall alter, erase or deface the mark or brand of the inspector upon any barrel or half-barrel made, or shall mark or brand any barrel or half barrel of beef or pork which hath not been inspected, with any mark or brand similar to, or ill imitation of the inspector's mark or brand, or alter the said inspector shall have passed any barrel or half barrel of beef or pork as merchantable shall pack into the cask which contains the same, any other salted provisi- 11s or after any barrel or. half barrel of beef or pork shall be marked with the broad arrow, shall unpack and repack the same in- to other casks or packages for ex-portal ion or sale, such person shall forfeit and pay twen- ty dollars for every barrel or half barrel re- packed as aforesaid. X. And be it enacted and ordained. That all fines and forfeitures incurred under the seventh, eighth and ninth sections c.fthis or- dinance when recovered shall be appropriat- ed as follows towit ; one half to the inform- er and the other half for the use of the, city; and that other fines herein imposed shall be collected by the inspector of beef and pork for the use of the city.
