Warsaw, Feb. 9.
The emperor continues frequently to make
short excursions. An oiler has been issued
at Posen to arrest all persons who say any
thing to the prejudice of the grand army.
This order is in consequence of the scanda
lous reports that get abroad.
The Polish army has inarched against
Dantzic, and are before that place.
The French have appeared 111 the vicinty
of Stralsund.
Their Prussian majesty's are at Konigs-
burg. Their return thither is considered a
proof of their confidence that the French
will not. be able to advance.
The French have evacuated Elbing ; also
Ostrolenka, and some other places consider-
ed too far advanced from the main body.
Altoka, Feb. 13.
Bonarjarte has offered to the Swedes, if
they will make peace, to give them Norway,
belonging to the Danes !.' The Swedes refus-
ed the ofier, and sent the letters to the court.
o5 Denmark. The king- of Sweden is stat-
ed to have-said " I shall never in my life
become the ally of such a robber as you."
Apprehensions are entertained of a visit
from the Russians in Italy.
It appears that a battle, which ended in
favour of the Russians, took place at Moh-
ringen, Jan. 26. The Russians attacked
the left wing under Ponte Corvo.
The Russian advanced posts wers at Culm
on the banks of the Vistula.
There cannot be the least doubt of the
recent success of the Russians,. as they ab-
solutely, occupy places which had been in
possession of the French.
The 54th Bulletin says, marshal Ney ad-
vanced 20 leagues, and returned without
loss.
The French are said to be in great want
of provisions."
London, February 20.
Sir Home Popbam has arrived from the
river of Plate, is under arrest, and must be
tried, tie is treated with, much respect.
Government are determined to try Buenos
Ayres once more ; but Monte-Video will
probably be the first attacked. Sir Home
returned in an American ship.
The question for emancipating the Irish
Catholics is to be again agitated in jaiiia-
ment.
February 23.
The 55th bulletin is dated at Warsaw,
Jan- 29, and gives an account of the battle
of Mohringen, of Jan. 25. The French
were commanded by the prince of Ponte
Corvo. It says the Russians were driven
two leagues, lost 1200 killed and 300 pri
soners.
Some inhabitants of Polish Prussia have
been ordered to be shot, for concealing de-
serters.
February 24.
It is said the Russian ministry have pre-
sented to the English government the draft
of a commercial treaty, which puts the Bri-
tish trade to the Baltic on a level with that
of the native Russian merehant, from port
to port. The greater part of the alien du-
ties, as far as respects Great-Britain, are to
be taken oft; and it is even expected that
Russia will employ her mediation with the
court of Denmark, to procure, in favor of
England, a considerable diminution on the
duties paid at the Sound. The latter would
be an inestimable advantage to the British
merchant.
Gen. Whitlock is to sail immediately for
South-America, with an expedition.
February 33.
The Russian official report of the battle
of the 25th, between the Russians and Prus-
sians and Uernadotte's and Ney's divisions,
has been received, and amply confirms us
in the opinion we have invariably maintain-
ed, that the FRENCH WERE DEFEAT-
ED. Rut the defeat was much more deci-
sive than we were at first induced to believe.
That obscure part of the 54th bulletin,
which stated Ney's division to have advanc-
ed 20 leagues from the cantonments, and to
have returned without sustaining any loss,
is now explained. Ney had marched to re-
inforce Bernadotte for the purpose, as it
should seem, of pushing on to Konigsberg.
But the Russians and Prussians, by a rajwd
and masterly movement, interposed a strong
column between them, drove back Ney,
and prevented the junction. There appear
to have t>e»n two battles. The 54th bulletin,
in alluding- to Ney's advance and retreat,
does not inform ns that there was any acti-
on ; it merely says, that the Russian army
took the alarm, and made a movement on
the right of Ney's division. But we now
find that, on the 24th of January, the Rus-
Niy, near
Self then ijrai.''.: '. ' s- ¦•:-'.• J« <4:. v i
them. A des] 1 . flxt 1 r >.,¦¦.:. vvhicU

The immediate consequeii-ee of
this: victory was-the evacuation of. Elbing,
by the remains of B<-: nad-itte's division;
indeed it should set m ns if, after the battle
of the 25th, Bernadotte had been unable to
return* to Elijing, for the onie!al report '.1
the Russians and Prussians .suites him to
have been driven into the forest of Stratsbwrg,
20 leagues from Elbing, where his corps is-
completely surrounded, and it was supposed
would be completely cut off.
The consequences of the battle of the
25th are very important; the combined Rus-
sians and Prussians have re occupied Elbing ;
the Prussians are at Mertenwevdei, the Rus-
sians at Culm, on the banks of the Vistula ;
the blockade of Graudentz has be:-n.
raised, and the king of Prussia, who had
retired to Mernel, has returned to Konigs-
berg.
From the French papers.
GRAND ARMY.
FIFTY-THIRD BULLETIN.
" Warsaw, January 22.
" Prince Jerome continues the campaign,
in Silesia with great activity. Lieut, gen.
Deroi had already invested Ksssel, and o-
pencd the trenches. The siege of Schweid-
nitz and that of Neisse continue to be car-
ried on.
" General Victor, as he was proceeding
to Stettin, in his carriage, accompanied by
an aid-de-camp, and a single domestic, was
carried off by a party of 25 chasseurs, who
were scouring the country.
FIFTY-FOURTH BULLETIN.
Warsaw, January 27.
Eeigty-four pieces of cannon, taken from
the Russians, are ranged before the palace
ol the Republic of Warsaw.
" Five thousand prisoners have been sent
to France, two thousand, escaped in the
first moments of confusion, and fifteen hun-
dred have entered among the Polish troops.
" Some battalions of light infantry be-
longing to mashal Ney's corps, had advanc-
ed twenty leagues from their cantonments ;
the Russian army took the alarm, and made
a movement on its right. The battalions
have returned within the line of their can-
tonments, without sustaining any fos .
'' During this period, the prince of Ponte
Corvo took possession of Elbing, and the
country situated on the borders of the Bal-
tic.
Thus have the battles with the Russians '
cost them a great deal of their artillery, all
their baggage, and from 25,000 to 30,000
men, killed, wounded, or prisoners.
" A Russian column had gone to Lie.b-
stadt, beyond the little river Passarage, and
had carried off half a company of the Vol-
tigeurs of the 8th regiment of the line, who
were at the advanced posts of the canton-
ment. The prince of Ponte Corvo, infor-
med of this movement, left Elbing, collect-
ed his troops, advanced with Rivaud's'divi-
sion towards the enemy, and met them near
Mohriiig.
" On the 25th, at noon, the enemy's di-
vision appeared, 12,000 strong. We soon,
came to blows. The 8tn regiment of the
line fell upon the Russians with inexpres-
sible bravery, to repair the loss which one
of its posts bad experienced. The enemy-
were completely routed, pursued 4 leagues,
and compelled to repass the Passarge. l)u-
pont's division arrived just as the engage-
ment was concluded, and could take no part
in it.
" On the right and centre of the annyT
the enemy are more than 30 leagues from,
our posts."
From the Lower Elbe, Feb. 6.
The head-quarters of marshal Mortier were;
at Muizow on the 1st instant, not far from
Brandhagen, and about 2 miles from Stral-
sund. Marshal Mortier has reconnoitred
that fortress. The Swedes made a sortie
with 600 infantry, 300 cavalry and 4 pieces
of cannon, but were driven back.
