hell S. Aifevi, of said comity, praying the he-

soivf'.ntdebtors," passed at November session,
1S05, on the terms mentioned in the said act;
a schedule of his property and a list of his
-•re ditors, on oath, as far as lie can ascertain
fc'iim, as directed by the said act, being an-
nexed to his petition ; and the saidcounty court
beinjf satisfied by competent testimony, that
¦.tic said Campbell S. Askew bus resided the 2
preceding years within the stale of Maryland,
prior to the passage of ;Hs said, act.; and the
said Campbell S. Askew at the time of pre-
senting his petition as aforesaid, having pro-
duced to the said court, the assent in writing
of so many of his creditors as have due to
them the amount of two thirds of the debts
iluebyhim at the time of passing the said act.
It is thereupon adjudged and ordered, by
the said court, that the said Campbell S. As

inserted in the Federal Gazette, every other

petent testimony, that the said John Cumming
has resided the two preceding years within

tors as have due to them the amount of two-
thirds of the debts due by him at the passing

yonng persons fitting for the mercantile line of
business ; and also for ordinary writers already
engaged in the same line, of almost whatever
age ; likewise for young gentlemen who are
either inor destinedfor the learned professions
Ladies who either have or have not received
their education, in other respects, can oe at-
tended either at their own dwellings, or else-
where, as theymay choose.
Mr. W. takes up the Art of Writing as a spe-
cies of drawing, and teaches it by a system of
rules, methodically arranged: but as the plan
may perhaps be rather novel in this citfc it
would he difficult, in a notification like this, to
point out the peculiar mode of proceeding.
Any person who may think proper to call on
Mr. W. at Mr. D. Fulton's, sign of the Globe,
Baltimore-street, will, it is presumed, be satis-
fied in those particulars of which they may
wish to inquire.

Notice.
Was committed to the custody of the Sheriff
of liarfi.i-d county, a Negro Man by the
name of Philip, who says he is the property
of Thomas Hill, of Halifax county, Virginia,
who says he absconded shortly after harvest.
Said Negro is about five fe«t ten inches high,
about 23' years of age, very black, and mid-
ling thick lips, has a hole in his right cheek.
Had on when committed an old wool bat,
coarse linen shirt, cloth jacket, and a coat
dark sh colored, a -pair of nankeen trowsers,
and old shoes ; since which time he has
changed his name to Hardy. The owner of
said'Negro is hereby notified to release him,
otherwise he will be sold for his prison fees,
agreeable to law.
