This action is said to have taken place iii the neighborhood of Konigsburg, lich place was invested. As we already have accounts from Paris of the 30th March, and from Bordeaux of the 4th April, both silent as to this event, we apprehend there must be some mistake in this report. The nan also informs, that accounts were received at, Marseilles of" an advantage ob- tained over the Russians by the Turks —So Enterprize, Fitzgerald, master—a further proof case -Mr. Armstrong, solicitor-gene- ral, exhibited further proof in further sup- port of the claim of Messrs. William and John Craig, of New-York, which he pray- ed to be admitted, and the goods to be re- stored as claimed. Mr. Kerr prayed the same to be rejected and the said goods to be condemned. His honor the judge having heard the said proofs read, and the arguments of ad- vocates and proctors on both sides thereon, was pleased to admit the same, pronounced the said goods to have belonged as claimed, Mild by interlocutory decree, directed the same to be reared to the claimant or his representative, for the i^c ox the owners and proprietors thereof. Sally, Johnson, master—a further proof case—The solicitor-genera! exhibited a loiter from Kirk and Lucens of Charleston, mer- chants, with an attestation annexed, where- in he prayed that further time be allowed them to produce tile proofs required by the decree of the court of the 13tli of January last. Mr. Kerr objected ; that the time granted had expired on the 13th instant, andntrrae- rous vessels had sailed for and arrived from Charleston, in the interval ; wherefore he prayed the application for further time to be rejected, the claimants put in jioenam, and the goods to be condemned. H'S honor the judge having heard the said letter and attestation read, and as also the petition for condemnation, and the argu- ments of advocates and proctors on both sides thereon, was pleased to extend the time heretofore granted to bring in further proof until next court day. Mr. Mathews prayed the claim by him given to *e admitted, and the said ship and goods to be restored as claimed. Mr. Wylly, his majesty's advocate, pray- ed the same to be condemned. His honor the judge having heard the said claim and proofs read, as also the exa mutation of witnesses, taken upon special interrogatories, and the arguments of ad- vocates and proctors on both sides thereon, pronounced that the said fourteen, boxes of candles had been illegally imported in the paid Ship, not customed, and landed at Nas- sau, and as such, together with the said ship, subject and liable to confiscation, and by in- terlocutory decree condemned the same to be forfeited for a breach of the laws of trade. FEDERAL GAZETTE. WEDNESDAY, MAY 20. we go! [«*'/•] COURT OF VJCE-ADMIRALTV. Nassau, (N F.) April id, 1807. [Before the worshipful Henry Morton Dyer, e;a_. sole judjje and coroatissary, To the Editor of the Federal Gazette. It appears, from, the dividend advertised this morning, that the affairs of the M< cha- nia Bank have been well managed. Six per cent, from lil-tle more than seven months ope- ration (from the time at which the third in- stalment was paid in) will permanently fix the value of that stock considerably above flar. It is not unworthy of remark, that the Directors of the institution, better ena- bled themselves to declare this flattering divi dend, by a judicious and disinterested sale of more than 5000 shares at an advance of one dollar, for the benefit of stockholders. It is my opinion, sir, that you should publish the enclosed list of the present Di- rectors, who are all eligible at the ensuing election. A Mechanic. James Mosher, Wm. Gwynn, Geo. Warner, Christian Mayer, Wm. M-Donald, Robert Cary Long, Thomas riheppurd, Adam Welsh, Wm. Jackson, Adam Fonerden, Robert Steuart, Owen Dorsey, Jacob Hoffman, Peter Littfe. Wm. Jessop, Extract of a letter from C^pc-Francois, dated April 1. " The commerce of this country is more shackled now than ever it was during the latter lime of Dessaline.s' despotic reign. By a decree of gen. Christophe, the price of coffee, throughout his jurisdiction, is fixed at 25 sous, and it must be purchased from government only. The planters are not per- mitted to dispose of it to individuals. Beef, pork, wine, oil, soap, gin, villi several other articles usually shipped to this coun- try, are selling for loss than cost in Ameri- ca. In fact, I do not see any thing short of ruin staring those in the face who are so wild as to adventure to this country in its present distracted state. Tile coast has been clear of privateers of late, and vessels drop- ingin every few days. Petion is much more favorable to commerce than the petty tyrant who commands here." Baltimore and Reister's-town Turnpike Road Office. Proposals will be received at the Office of the Baltimore and Reister's-town Turnpike Road Company, to build a stone bridge over the PatapSco Falls,'between Reister's-town and Westminster. , By order, JOHN F.
