The prevailing disposition to encourage the
progress of Literature—tbe peculiar favor
winch St. Mary's College has enjoyed—and
the many splendid chances offered to adven-
turers by the above scheme, induce the ma-
nsgvrsk) anticipate a rapid sale of the tickets,
The drawing will commence as soon as a suf-
ficient number is sold to authorize it-_ The
managers have given bond to the state in the
penalty of sixty thousand dollars, for the faith-
ful payment of the prizes, which will be paid
subject to a deduction of 15 per cent, 30 day,
afterthe drawing is finished. Prizes no de.
minded within a twelve-month from the tcom
plet'ton of the drawing, will be considered as
a donation to tbe College.

From the above Scheme, it appears fha
there are less than two Blanks to a Prize; and
that the Prizes are to be paid withtut v
The advantages" offered to adventurers, and
the very charitable objectto which the money
is to be applied, induce the Managers to hope,
that a speedy sale of the tickets will enable
them to commence drawing at an early "day.
All prizes will be paid in sixty days after the
completion of the drawing, and such prizes as
aienot demanded within twelve months, will
be considered as generous donations to the
truly charitable object of the Lottery.
Tickets may be had of the Managers, and
such other persons as they may appoint to sell.

Land for Sale-
TH7. subscriber offers for sale, the fol-
lowing tract of LAND, late the residence
of Charlos Elder, deceased; lying i
Ariuidle cunty, on the Western Falls of
the Patapsco, twenty-two miles from Balti-
more, and about four miles to the right of
the Frederick-town Turnpike Road.
It. contains between six and seven hun-
dred acres, winch will be sob! in an entire
body, of divided into Lots, as may best suit
the."purchasers. The. above land is well tim-
, and has a considerable portion oi mea-
dow ground, with a large Orchard of excel-
lent fruit trees of ever) kind.
A further description is thought unneces-
sary, presuming tl > se inclined to purchase
wiH view the premises. For term-- apply to
the subscriber, living near the 20 mile stone,
on the Frjtierick town turnpike road.

New Patent Invention.
The subscribers respectfully inform the it*,
habitants of the city of Baltimore, that they
have purchased the Patent right of Simon
Willard, jun-'s Patent Washing Machine, and
that they will keep a constant supply on hand,
at the corner of Sharp and Barre-streets, near
the head of the Bason, for the «ity but rait
for the county of Baltimore The subscribers
are also empowered by the patentee to dis-
pose of rights within tbe state of Maryland,
except the counties of Washington and Balti-
more, and to sell the counties of York and
Lancaster in Pennsylvania, one right to each
county, and that they will supply the inha-
bitant's of the above mentioned places with a
sini^ie Machine, or any number, from twelve
to thirteen dollars each.
This Machine will wash at least 8 shirts
quicker than a woman can one, and will save
one-third of the Soap ; and no one can ima-
gine that it can wear the clothes half as
much as rubbing by hand. It is managed
very easily by one person, and will wash any
kind of clothes, from the largest coverlet, to
the smallest articles. Nona are requested to
buy until they have proved the Machine to
be equal to the description Tbe patent was
obtained from government, on the 25tk of
April 18o7.

100 Dollars Reward.
RAN away some time in December last,
two tf< gro Men, GEORGE St HOPEWELL
—George is about 28 years of age, very stout
made, and very black; has a down look when
spoken to. He worked sometime with Mr.
Warner, tbe brick-maker, in Baltimore, and
it is thought he went to sea from Fell's-Point.
Kis cloaiiiirg is not recollected. Also, Negro
HOPEWELL, about 22 years of age, about
five feet six inches high, rather stout made,
and very black ; has a bold look when spoken
to. -He sailed in the Havre-de-Grace Packet
from Baltimore, and it is probable he is at the
head of the bay. Fifty dollars will be paid to
any person for taking op either of said negroes
and delivering them to me in Somerset county,
in Mar}land, or securing them in Baltimore
goal, so that I get them again.

Twenty Dollars Reward.
RAN away from the subscriber, living at
Westmoreland court-house, Virginia, a Negro
Lad, named ISAAC, aged seventeen years ;
5 feet 8 or 9 ikehes high. He is a likely young
fellow, ofa bright complexion, slender made,
and very quick spoken. He had on when he
went off', a brown coat and blue trousers , but
it is probable he will change bis clothing. He
left this in company with a small white lad,
by the name of William Short, who was an
apprentice to the batter's business in this plaee.
William Short is a slender made lad, ofa thin
visage and fair complexion, and stutters very
much. They were pursued into the state of
Maryland, as far as the ferry opposite Ale*
andria. William Short passes Isaac for the
property ofhis brother, Thomas Short, of Bal-
timore ; and was heard to say on the road, that
they were bound to that place. The above
reward will be given for apprehending and
securing Isaac, so that I get him again; and
if brought home, all reasonable charges paid

Land for Sale.
The subscriber offers for sale the place on
which he now resides, on the Reistcr's-town
road 6 miles from Baltimore ;'containing 17
acras of LAND, 8 of which may be made
into good meadow at a small expence. There
is on said land a good frame duelling House,
Kitchen it Stable, a well of good water in the
yard, a garden in high cultivation, and about
50 bearing Fruit Trees. The whole will be
sold together, or divided into two lots, as
the purchaser may chuse. As it is expected
any person wishing to purchase will view
the property, a further description is deemed
unnecessary. The terms of sale may be
known by application to tbe proprietor living
on the premises.
