Th" Virginia rg'1" received to day (the Enqa'.r -r ha? n > comeon) gi-es the follow in' latest p-rce dhus. Saturday, Sept. I a. The argument on the motion for exclud- ing- the evidence was continued with great zeal and armth by Messrs. Randolph, Mar- tin, and W\Akam, whose speeches occupied all the time appropriated to the session of the court. The rep rter regrets that the bad state of his health has prevented his giving, as he intended, a sketch of the substance of these discourses, a? well as of those deli- vered oh Friday by Messrs. McRae, Wirt and Randolph. Monday, Sept. 14. The r tit el'fJut ice delivered his opinion on the great question which had been so long debated. It was (as usual) in ¦ mine, and'of very great length. " On the 11'iject of war our people h- gin to be filled vi;ii strange alarms. One day, the British in Canada are receiving tm- mrnse reinforcements—the next day, trie Indians are forming rendezvous near f£ing- ston, and have already collected to the num- ber of three thousand warriors, only waiting a permission to be let loose upon us ; and more, than onc^ it has been reported, that depredations have actu illy been committed on in shore of he river. These strange ani impr 'i Hie stories give rise to conduct feiiiaiiy so in the part of our good people. A few hi 'hts since, a good man and his fa- mily, in this neighb- rh od, were awakened from their dreams of danger by an uncom- mon noise in ihec rnflcld which, from lis- tening., they fount to be human voices, ap- p -cully proceet tug towards the house. Convinced that it could be nothing but In- di ns, they, in compliance with higher opi- nions and example.-, sought safety by flying to the woods, (accoutred as I wish to see all, others who favor the flying system,) with no m.re clothes than ihey had on ;n bed. Their dog. not peifee ly satisfied ,-iththe planof opcrati ns thus hastily adopted, ap- peared to be inclined to reconnoitre. To prevent this, the good man seized him hy the throat, and held him so long and so fast as to deprive the .poor animal of life. In this situation the family remained until next 'day. when they were found by a neighbor, who had been some lime in pursuit of them, and wishing to asceitain the damage his cattle had done the preceding night, in the cornfield .'" \J-hiv- York paper.'] subjects of n resource which in the course of future events may be required, but by re-ex- portation from foreign ports may become a source of supply to our enemies : We have therefore thought fit, by and with the advice of our executive Council of our said province of Lower Canada, to issue this our royal Proclamation, and for the safety and benefit of our subjects, to order, and we do hereby order, that an embargo be forthwith laid upon all ships and vessels, wholly or partly laden or to be laden, in the ports of our said pro- vince of Lower Canada, or in any port there of with gun-powder, ammunition, arms am. warlike stores of any denomination or des cription whatsoever, or with either or any of the said articles to be exported to foreign ports.
