The unusual press of foreign news, which has lately crouded our columns, has com- pelled u to give less of the proceeding at Rich nond than was intended. But as the importance of these trials demanded that we should not curtail the accounts, we have continued to detail them, as given in the " Enquirer." We this evening issue a sup- plement, for the purpose of bringing up the proceedings. PH!L\DFJ.PHI V, September 18. Arrived, ship G inges, Earle, Liverpool, 42 davs, dry goods. Last proceedings at Richmond in Burr's case : The jury then retired with the indict- ment, and after an absence of about twenty minutes, Mr. Orris Payne, their foreman, returned a verdict of" Not Guilty." Mr.H lythen announced the course which he , as n w to pursue—Mr. Burr was n„t yet discharged from his recognizance For misdemeanor ; that it was his intention to move for his commitment to that place for trial where the military expedition is s id to have been completed ; that he should c mbine in the same motion Messrs. Smith and Blannerhassett ; and that he should have no difficulty in entering a nolle prosequi to their trials tor a misdemeanor. Mr. Burr requesied the attorney to alledge the place where the act is said to have been commit- ted. Mr, Hay replied, that the evidence he should introduce would cover a vast ex tert of teiritory ; that he would name ittie could, the very spot. Mr. Burr. The dis- trict then ? Mr. Hay. I do not distinct- ly recollect the opinion of the court ; but I believe it will be pioved that troops were assembled at the in nth of Cumberland ri- \er and d.-wn the Mississippi to Bayou Pierre in a warlike posture. But it is not my bu- siness to locate the scene. It will be the province of the court, alter they have heard the evidence, to fix the place where he is to be tried. Mr. Martin mentioned the case of John Smith, of Ohio ; but no arrangement was made. Mr. Wickham mentioned the case of Jo- nathan Dayion. Mr. Hay observed that he did not hink himself justified in entering a nol. pro . as that would discharge him from his recognizance- and he was not certain but some evidence would occur in the course of the examination which w>uld induce him to combine Mr. Dayton in his motion for com- mitment; thathehad nodoubtthatMr.Day- ton was leagued in the general conspiracy, and if he had had any, the similarity of the hand-writing of the letter he had in his hand (gen. Dayton's) with some he had previously seen, would have satisfied his mind. Mr. Wickham then proposed, that Mr. Hay should enter a nol. pros, and that gen. D. should continue his recognizance, to ¦which Mr. Hay acquiesced. Adjourned till this day, (Saturday,) II o'clock. [Enquirer, Sept. 16.J then got her before the wind under Bare poles.
