Orleans and Guernsey for Amsterdam, lost
Oct. 1, on the Hakes ; crew saved. Ship
Averick, Dccost, from Virginia for London,
lost on the Nore, crew safe. Capt. Doane
left at London, Oct. 2, ships Young Factor,
Gatilt, for New-York in 2 or 3 days ; Remit-
tance, Law, for ditto. Ship Washington,
Crocker, sailed for Boston the last of Sept.
The ship Augusta, Howe, ot Boston. ; and
Woodrop Sims, Haines, had arrived at Lon-
don from Virginia. A ship sailed from Lon-
don for New York, about the 25th of Sept.
with a fnll freight and passengers. Ten or
i2 sail of American vessels were wind bound
in the Downes on the 29th Sept. Oct. 9,
lat.SO, 40, long. 9, spoke ship Isabella, of
New-York.
The brig Abeona, Hill, 24 days from
N. Orleans, cotton, tobacco and log.

By the ship Sansom, (arrived at N. York
on Tuesday) in 34 days from Plymouth,
English papers to the third of October have
been received. Though the different ex-
tracts are a little at variance, yet the aggre-
gate presents a prospect less cheering to the
lovers of peacs than any thing heretofore re-

On motion of Mr. Randolph, the com-
mittee of Ways and Means have been in-
structed to inquire what further appropri a- I
tions are necessary to defray the expencns a-
rising from the impeachment of JivJge Chase
Annapolis, November \Oik, i807.
Yesterday Robir't Wright, esq was re-
elected governor, and to day James JJiitcftet,
Lewis Duvall, Thomas W. Hall, Reverdy
Ghieslin, and James Nabb, esq. his council.
Married last evening, by the reverend Dr.
Whitehead, Clement Smith, esq. merchant,
(Geo. Town Patomac) to miss Margerctta

Mr Nelson presented a petition from sun-
dry inhabitants of Frederick county, MARY-
LAND, and Adams Co. Pennsylvania, pray
ing the establishment of a post-read, referred
to the committee oh post-office* and roads.
On motion of Mi. Dan , oidei'etl, tn at there
be printed for the use ot'lhis house 1000 co-
pies of the constitution ot' the U States, and
the amendments which have been ratifid
Mr. Cook, after some prefatory remarks,
offered the following :
Resolved, that a committeo be appointed to
inquire whether any, and if any, what descrip
lion of claims a must the U S. are barred by
the statute of limitation, which in reason ami
justice ought to be provided for by law. A-
greedto, and a committee of 7 appointed.
Mr. Bard, from the committee, reported a
"bill to extend the right of suffrage in the
Mississippi Territory, and for oilier purposes"
which was read twice awd referred to a com-
mittee of the whole on Monday. .^f;.
Mr. Camp'nc.U presented a memorial from
sundry persons res ding within the slate? of
Tennessee ami Georgia, praying to ->e incor-
porated for the purpose of rendering navigable
ci itain parts of the river Tennessee, &c. refer-
red to a select committee of 7.
The house went into con mittee of the whole
on the report of the committee of elections on
the petition of JOSHUA BARNEY. [Ut
M'Creery immediately retired. Commodore
Barney continued in ihe gallery.] The report
concludes as follows:
Resolved, that W m. M'Creery is entitled to

¦ Oct. 14, fell in with the Lugger Speculati-
on, from Charleston, bound to St, Jago,
under jury mast ; she had experienced se-
veral severe gales, and sustained a great deal
of damage, the crew nearly exhausted with
fatigua, took her in to w and carried her to
Nassau. Off the capes was boarded by the
British 74 gun ship Bellona—saw two in-
ward bound ships laying off the capes; came
into the capes on yesterday afternoon, 4
o'clock ; saw nothing bound up.
The ship Friendship, Pascal!, hence, has
arrived at Tonningen.
The schr. Hero, hence at Savannah.
The Danish chr. Experiment, Shakes,
from Cape Francois is ashore on Bodkin
Point.
The schr. Philantrophist, Monroe, of this
port, has arrived at Martinique.
The •¦•hip Clio Price, from Guadaloupe
to Norfolk was captured by the British brig
Express, and brought into Antigua the 15th
Oct. was libelled, trial to come on the 23d.
The brig Exuma, sp ke in long 73, 30,
