petition. The clerk began to read it, when
a motion was made to adjourn. Some dis-
cussion took place whether this motion
was in order ; the speaker decided that it
was—and then the house adjourned at 3

Arrived, schr. Jane, M'Neil, 12 days from
Halifax, sailed in co. with the British Pac
ket, fbrN. York. Left ship United States,
Moor, of Baltimore, under adjudication ;
schooner Fly, Fvazier, for Baltimore, in .0
clays ; ship Hero, Spencer, of New-York
laid over for further proof: the captain
swore he was a British subject and never was
a citizen of the United States—passed 3 Bri-
tish frigates at anchor inside of the capes,
was hailed by the Milan and ordered to heave
to, but having a line wind stood on. Above
point Comfort saw a ship at anchor, snppos
ed to be the French ship Patriot
Ship Henrietta, Nichols, 56 days from
Liverpool, salt crates and goods, the master.
Schooner Fame, 28 days from Point- Petre,
(Guad.) sugar and coffee, James Owlngs.
Was boarded off Point Petre, by a British
frigate, and treated politely. Saw 2 schrs.

we were in sight.
