D rember 3______________________d.8t College ( t ;>ject.c.ue. AT a full and respectable meeting o the Medical Faculty of this city, at Dr Davidge's, it was unanimously resolved, that, in conse- quence of the late, interruption of the Lectures on Anatomy and Surgery, and the very gene- ous and handsome present of a Lot of Ground in the precincts from a gentleman whose phi- lanthropy and ainiableness are only equalled by his love of science, a number of Physicians be appointed to wait on the inhabitants of the city to procure such a sum of money as ma be necessary for the erection ot building? suit able for the accommodation of professors in the different branches ot Medicine. Many circumstances concur to invite to the above measure : Baltimore is rising by its commerce,to a rank among the first cities ot the union, is the only eligible and in every respect suitable spot south of Philadelphia, on v. hich a Medical College can be established ; is flour- ishing in riches, opening a field to manufac- tures ; and is, we hope, assuming to itself, by* its generous and enlightened views, the repu tatiou of being a nursery for the arts, the sciences, and the liberal professions. At this moment a bill to organize a medical College is before the General Assembly of j the state; and the liberality of our citizens will not, in our opinion, Wf.it to receive an j example so indicative of a polished condition i of society, from the state, in an establishment I from which such immediate advantage will I result to our municipal community. It would j rather suggest the example. By order of the meeting, D.S C. December 3- d4t FOR SALE AT THIS OFFICE, Good Printing Ink, In SMALL K._->. Hager's-Town Bank, September 30tli, 1807.
