College of Medicine.
u\:r a full and respectable meeting of the
-jVtedical Faculty of this city.at Dr,Davidge's,
- t was unanimously resolved, that, in couse-
ti.ience of the late Interruption ot the Lectures
on Anatomy and Surgery, and the very gene-
oxsS and handsome present of a Lot ot Ground
-„ 'the precincts from a gentleman win >se phi-
¦antbropy and amiableness are only equalled
v^ his love of science, anumber of Physicians
I-,, appointed to wait on the inhabitants of the
—ttv to procure such a sum of money as ma)
jbe necessary for the erection of building! suit-
able for the accommodation of professors in
the different branches ot Medicine. _
Many circumstances concur to invite to the
above measure: Baltimore is rising by its
to. omerce.to a rank among the first cities of the
¦union, is the only eligible and in every respect
suitable spot south of Philadelphia, on which
a Medical Collega can he established ; is ftbur.
isLiug in riches, opening-a field to manufac-
tures ; and is, we hope, assuming to itself, by
StS gent reus and enlightened views, the repu-
tation of being a nursery for the arts, the
sciences, and the liberal professions.
At this moment a bill to organize a medical
College is before the General Assembly of
the state! and the liberality of our citizens
Vfill not, in our opinion, wait to receive an
-Example so indicative of a polished condition
«,f society, from the state, in an establishment
from which such immediate advantage will
result to our municipal community. It would
rather suggest the example.
By order of the meeting,
