On LEGISLATURE, House oe Delegates, MarixAn'ij. Tuesday, November 17. The house met. Present as on yesterday, except Mr. Holbrook and Mr. Streett. The pioceedings of yesterday were read. A petition from Peter Miles, of the city of Baltimore, praying a special act of in- solvency ; * petition from Robert Armstrong and Elizabeth liurney Landrum, praying a law directing the register of wills for Balti- more county to deliver them the original ¦will of Kobert Hurney, deceased ; a petition from sundry inhabitants of the city and county of Baltimore, prqying a law to open and extend Centre-street, and that a sum of money may be levied towards defraying the expense thereof; and a petition from sundry physicians and other inhabitants ot Balti- more, praying a law to establish a medical college in the city or precincts of Baltimore, were preferred, read and referred. On motion, ordered, that the bill to lay out and make a public road in Baltimore county, be recommitted for amendment. The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to latify and conlirro the marriage articles of Ely Dorsey, of Ely, of Frederick county, and Araeninta, his wife, endorsed, " will pass, with the proposed amendments ;" - which amendments were agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed. And a bill, entitled, an act for removing an obstruction in Contwago tfreet, and for extending the width and changing the direction of Tui Feet tane in the city of Baltimore, endorsed, '< will pass ;" which was read. Air. Bowles delivered a favorable report on the petition of John Truemah ; which was read. A petition from Robert Nesbit, praying a special act of insolvency, was preferred, read ana referred. Mr. Little delivered a bill to lay out and make a public road in Baltimore county, as amended ; which was twice read and passed. A memorial ham Jeremiah Townley Chase Esq. of the city of Annapolis, praying a resolution may pass auth .rising the chan- cellor to grant a deed to him and Samuel Chase for two undivided third parts of laud purchased of the state by them and Luther Martin, was preferred, read, and referred. Leave given to bring in a supplement to the act to establish and incorporate a medi- cal and chirurgieal faculty or society in the state cf Maryland. Mr. Mernken delivered a favourable re- port on the petition of Keally Tydings ; which was read. A memorial from William Gwynn, of the ctSy> f Baltimore, praying; a law autho- rising the right and claim of Baltimore county ko part of lot No l I in said city to he conveyed to him, on his paying a reason- able compensation therefor, was preferred, read, and referred. The house proceeded to the second read- ing of the supplement to the act frr the re- lief of sundry insolvent debtors, and. on mo- tion the question was put, Tiiai the said bill be recommitted for amendment: Resolved in the affirmative. Mr. Frazier delivered a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act rela- ting to the public roads tn ti.e several coun- ties therein mentioned ; w hich was read. A petition from John Den r, ot Wash- ington county, praying to be released Irom confinement, was preferred, read, and refer- red. Mr. T. Moffit delivered a bill, entitled, An act to make valid the will of Arthur M'Dade, late of Csecil county deceased ; which was read. The report on the memorial of John Gas- t saway was read the second time, and the question put, That the house concur there- with, and assent to the resolutions therein contained ? Determined in the negative. Mr.Schnebly delivered a bill,entitled, An act authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money for the purpose of finishing the stee- ple ot Saint-John's church, in Enzabeth- town, in Washingthn county, and for other purposes ; which was read.
