Mr. Dawson laid h fore the house a letter
from the secretary oi wat, inclosing an
estimate of the suin> uece'sary for the pay
unci subsistence of 33,600 men, officers in-
cluded Ac. Referred to the 'Committee of
the whole, to whom was referred so much
of the President's message as relates to mili-
tary and naval establishments.
The house proceeded to consider the report
of the committee of the whole (yesterday)
on the. bill from the senate making appro-
priations for building 188 additional gun.
Considerable debate arose (Mi agree,

Tne privateer brig general Ernof and cutter
Victor, fi m Guadaloupe, landed some
troops on the eastern end of the island of
St. Bartholomews on the nights of the nth
and I2th November. The next morning
the ve'sels proceeded round to the harbour,
took possession of the forts and cut out the
Swedish brig Meteor and schr. Random,
which they took in Pomt-Petre. It 'as al-
so stated that they had brought a considera-
ble quantity , f coffee with thern.
The schr. Rapid, Gold, henpe has arri-
ved at La Vera Cruz

Washington, for Boston.
C pi. S. confirms the account of the at-
tack on St. Bartholomews, and the arrival
of the two Swedish vessels at Point Petre,
the crews of which were immediately put
on board the prison-ship. Three British
vessels had lately been brought in there, two
ships from Demarara, with colonial pr duee
for England, and a brig from Guernsey with
wtne.
Also, Bremen ship America, Duncker, 47
days from Liverp ol—Salt—Schultz and
Vogeler—spoke nothing.
BATTALION ORDERS.
The review of the 1st. Battalion 6th re-
giment is postponed till Monday next, 14th
inst. if fair at same place and time, as was
intended on the 10th inst.
