HALL, and EDWARD HALL. Executors of Thomas Hall Harford county, Nov. 24. 2aw3lD John Haslam, VETERINARY SURGESN, Or FARKIER, No 41, Jones street, Old Town, Continues to offer his professional services to the citizens of Baltimore, and informs them that he has opened a Shop, in the above street, for the Shoeing of Horses feet, accord ing to the modern improved plan ; that is on the following principle : The Frog of the foot never to be pared, to bear equal weight with tl)e shoe, and the shoe to be tbrged in such a manner as to bear a level surface on the ground and at the same time a sufficient space betweeen the shoe and sole of the foot. It would appear, at first thought that the frog pressing on the ground, would injure the horse ; but when we consider the shape, situ- ation, quality and composition of the frog, together with its connection with the exter- nal and internal parts of the foot, we must ac- knowledge it was placed there for most es- sential purposes. It is elastic, and the shape of a wedge, convex, ana placed in the centre of the heels This wedije like shape, and convexity must be intended for some purpose, and that is to keep the heels expanded, which operation takes place in the following manner ; allow the frog to press on the ground, and when- ever the horse sets his foot down, the frog as cends, t tat is, it rises up between the heels ; when he takes it up, the frog descends and by this alternate motion the heels are preserv ed expanded. The toot forms half a circle, which is the natural shape of a colt's toot, and a proper elastic motion is kept up in the parts composing the heels—again, tiie frog, when suffoie I to to press on the gruond, prevents the horse from slipping and'by the its elastic quality acts as a spring. It is tOund by experience that a perpetual press, re may be given to a living substance, and it will be attended witti no inconvenience, when a partial* pressure will cause most ex- quisite pain. This is demonstrated in a person whose liv- ing is by the hammer ; he feels no inconve- nience; when a person, whose hand is soft, begins to work with the hammer for a little tim., he feels great pain The same is also the case with the trog of the horse's foot, though it is cut and raised from the ground, as it is the common practice, and not admitted to press on an even surface, it will meet with pressure on gravelly gorund, or any uneven surface ; therelore it is better it should have perpetual or constant pressure. Independatit of the reasonable appearance of the above theo'4', no one has cause for fear in the practice. It has been adopted for several years past at the Veterinary College of London, and in numerous instances in this city, by my direction, with the most salutary e fleets. The plan of Shoeing in frost differs from the plan in warmer weather It is expected these few observations are sufficient, but any further explanation will be given by calling on me. * What I mean by partial pressure, is a press- ure sometimes. CERTIFICATE, Of Mr. William julion, carpenter and builder, No. 69, south Fifth street, Philadelphia. Sir, My wishes to promote the imprest of su- perior merit, and to allord consolation to the afflicted, induces me to request you will lay my case before the p blic, as ah incontestable proof of the astonishing efficacy of Dr. Ro- be rtson's invaluable Stomachic Elixir of Health. I do hereby certify, that I was seized most violently with the dysentery, or bloody flux, which reduced me so much, that I was con- fined to my bed, and became so weak that I could not not move without assistance. My situation at that time being so seriously alarm- ing, as no relief could be obtained, 1 was given over, and even death would have been di sirable to me, had not a friend of mine, who by chance called to see me, who had just re- covered from a similar complaint, though not so severe as mine. He informed me dial he w -.s cured by taking lir Robertson's Stomachic Elixir of Health, and advis d me to send to you for a bottle. I immediately did so, and by 'ollowdng your instructions given with the bottle, before I had taken half a botlle, I found myself much relieved, anil my disorder great- ly abated, and by continuing to take it, in one week I was able to walk out, and in less than a fortnight was able lo attend to my business I therefore recommend every family to be provided with this invaluable medicine, parti- cularly those who live at a distance in - the country, where assistance cannot be immedi- ately obtained. As I am convinced that Dr. Robertson's Stomachic Elixir of Health, is the most effectual remedy in the world, I have since recommended it to several of mv friends in sin ilar complaints, who have always been relieved immediately after taking it.— Should any person wish to be more tully con vinced of my case, I will with pleasure ex- plain it to 'hem by applying to me I am with a due sense otthe benefit I have received, through the efficacy of j our medi- cine, Sir, your humble servant, WM JULION. Mr. Dvott. Philadelphia, July 15th, 1807- CERIIFICATE, Of Mr. John T. Solomon, Sixth near Race- Street, Philadelphia. Sir.. For the good of the public and benefit of the afflicted, I think proper to inform you, that, having laoored for upwards of six months under a very bad cough, attended with diffi- culty ol breathing, pains in my breast and side, and a sicki ess at my stomash ; having lost all appetite, I became so very much reduced in my strength as to he unable to walk. I was ' or.sidei ed in a consumption, and given up for a lost man. In this hopeless situation I had recoure to Dr. Robertson's Stomachic F.lixir of Health, and to my great astonishment, before I had taken one bottle, found myself very much relieved. I expectorated a great quan- tity ol phlegm, which has eased me of one of the most violent coughs that ever a man had ; I have taken it regularly ever since, and now find myself completely recovered, and shall certainly, for the benefit received, recommend it as far as I can, believing it to be a most effi- cacious medicine in the above complaint, I am, Sir, With real respect, Your obed't humble servant, JOHN T. SOLOMON. Mr. T. W. Dyott. August 22. CERTIFICATE Of Mr- Peter Lemnan, No 278, south Second, street, Philadelphia. Dear Sir, It is with the utmost satisfaction I in- form you of the cure effected by your truly- invaluable Stomachic Elixir of Health, as the whole of my family, including myself, being six in number, were violently affected with the influenza, attended with very bad coughs, pains in the limbs, and difficulty of breathing, which continued to increase. I applied to a physician, but his medicines had no effect.— Just at that time, having heard of the cures made by Dr. Robertson's Stomachic Elixir of Health, I determined to try a bottle of it; I did, and its effects exceeded my expectations. The first two or three doses caused me to ex- pectorate avast quantity of tough vicid phlegm, and so speedily removed every symptom of the cold, that by the time we had taken three bottles we were all perfectly cured, except a weakness that remained, for which I have ad- ministered Dr. Robertson's Patent Wine Bit- ters, and I have found them wonderfully effica- cious in strengthening the system, and destroy- ing of worms, as two of my children have voided a vast quantity by taking them, and are now growingstrortg and healthy. I have since recommended the above medicines to a num- ber of my friends, who have been immediately relieved by taking them. It is my desire that you publish this case of my family for the benefit of the public, and those who may be afflicted Any person desir- ous of further information, may have every satisfaction, by applying-either by letter or per- sonally to me I am, Sir, Your obedient hnmhleservant, PETER DUNHAM. November 26^________________________ Dr.'TISSOT'S CELEBRATED GOUT rtND RHEUMA- TIC DROPS. T.b.e Gout, Rheumatism, Lumbago, and the various disorders of the samejUiture, are so exquisitely painful, and so difficult to be cured, that theyhave justly excitedtkeutmoststretrh of medical investigation. Some professional ;;e, tlemen have excelled in one department of »he sciences ; others in another. Dr. Tissot particularly has long been renowned for the superiority of his prescriptions in chronical diseases, and the length of lime which eiap sed during his sole attention to the nature and effects and cure of these affections, render the medicines which he recommended of in- valuable importance. The beneficial effects of these drops, have been so often experienced, and their extraordinary efficacy has been at- tested by witnesses so numerous and so unim peachably credible, that incredulity itself cantnot doubt the virtues of Dr Tissot's Gout and RheumaticDrop's. Large quantities have already Deen vended, and the sale is now be- come so general, and their certainty in curing the disorders of a chronic nature is so com- pletely ascertained, that certificates of their unbounded utility are now unnecessary. Tes- timonies of their value, and a volume of at- tested cases periormed by. them, may be seen upon application at T. W. Dyott's genuine drug and patent medicine warehouse, No. 57, South'Second street, Philadelphia. The price of Dr. Tissot's Gout and Rheu- matic Drops, is only two dollars per bottle, with copious directions. Generous allowances made to those who buy to sell again. Of the many respectable testimonislsof the effects of the above drop3, whicn have been receiv. d by the proprietor, we beg leave to annex the following CERTIFICATE Of General Kidgely of Hampton. I certify that having received a bjow on my knee, which induced severe pain and swel- ling, I was advised to apply to Dr. Tissot's Gout and Rheumatic Drops, and on bathing the part with them only a tew times, agreea- bly to the directions, they effected a perlcct cure. Another time my wrist was affected with rheumatism to such a degree, as to ren- der my hand for the time useless, when on making application of the same remedy in like manner, the disorder in the course of twenty-four hours was estirely removed. I therefore fom the experience 1 have had of the efficacy of said medicine, consider it a beneficent act, to recommend it in similar ca- ses to ctners. (Signed) C. RIDGELY, of Hampt. CERTIFICATE Of John Gibson, esq one of the directors of the Farmers' Bank of Maryland I certify that about a year since, my foot re- ceived an injury by a fall; in a tew hours after it was affected with a most excruciating pain, so that I was unable to walk without crutches 1 was apprehensive that this accident would induce a severe fit o' the gout, with which I had been frequently attacked. In this situa- tion one of my friends highly recommended and earnestly advised me to apply Dr. Tissot's Gout and Rheumatic Drops. I immediately procured them and made the application ; in less than three hours the pain entirely abated which had been so severe, as to deprive me of sleep for several nights. Bya fe w further ap- plications, a perfect applications, a perfect cure succeeded. I have frequently since in in other cases, b«th used them myself, and recommended them to others with invariable success (Signed) JOHN GIBSON. CERTIFICATE Of Mrs. Mary Tailor.
