Source Baltimore City Directories 1827-1860
A John Clark takes over the location site and business of Stephen Clark's lottery exchange beginning in the 1827 City Directory. As a result, I believe John Clark to be a son or some other relative. In addition in the 1820 Census 2FWM live with Stephen Clark, one between the age of 16-18. One 18-26. John is probably the eldest son. John marries Rebecca Grafflin in 1828. I know this is the same John Clark because chancery records involving John and Rebecca Clark detail descriptions of the properties once occupied by Stephen Clark.

A chancery case involving John Clark and Rebecca Clark in 1841 against various MD insurance agencies reveal that the properties on the corner of Calvert and Baltimore were used as security for an advance of money. The insurance companies claim John Clark does not pay them and the properties are placed for sale. This exaplains the disappearence of the addresses :

Beginning in the late 1850s more than one John Clark appears in the City Directories. I am not sure which one is the relative of Stephen Clark so I included all entries. It is probable that the Clark on Greene St. is a different John Clark
