Here is a copy of the notes I took on Clio while imaging your requests. It contains a brief description of all images and their tiff names as well as a few minor problems I encountered.
Research Notes: 97/07/10
Commentary on the digitization of images Dave requested from the Baltimore Afro American and Baltimore Sun.
BAA001.tif = 1896/02/15 sketch of W.M. Alexander. Note a crinkle on the microfilmed paper cuts across image but should still be "usable" for HTML.
BAA002.tif = 1896/02/22 "Lexington Savings Bank"
BAA003.tif = 1914/01/03 advertisement for T.G. Marshall
BAA004.tif- 005.tif = sketch of Provident Hospital. Note. Article needed to be sectioned into two tif images. The second image at 400 dpi was over 1.44 MB (size of a disk) so I had to reduce to 300 dpi.
BAA006.tif = 1911/09/02 photo of Waring.
BAA007 -010 1911/12/09. Entire page required to much memory at all resolutions. As a result I divided the image into 4 overlapping quarters. The first two contained I was able to save at 400 dpi. The two bottom pages consisting soley of text and not the pictures had to be recorded at 300 dpi in order to save to disk
BSUN001.tif = 1903/10/27 Article "Look at these pictures of Negro Domination" Required to save at 300 dpi.
bSUN002.tif = 1903/10/27 Cartoon "White butler/ Negro Master" from above article
BSUN003.tif = 1903/10/27 Cartoon " Rich colored families have white slaves" from above article
BSUN004.tif = 1903/10/27 Budweiser Ad
NOTE*** Ran out of disks before finding obituaries. If you save these disks to your drive location (feel free to rename tif images to something more suitable for project location) and return them to me I can finish next week. In addition, the Hopkins reel of film for Sun's 1903/10/26 does not have photopf Sen. Arthur Gorman on page 14. Paper only goes up to 12. I checked every page for that addition to make sure it was not misfilmed. The next issue contained a headline about Gorman but no picture.
Hope this helps.
