ABBREVIATIONS
THE GENERAL ARRANGEMENT of materials herein has been largely chrono-
logical. Within a given year, it has been found convenient to block off
cohesive groups such as legal practice, court opinions, and land transactions,
and to arrange these chronologically where feasible. Law cases have been
arranged by citation if published, otherwise alphabetically, with the date of
rendering or final order taken as the year of entry. Separate groupings also
have been made according to court of final decision. Occasionally an activity
or litigation has been carried through beyond its principal year of listing.
Citations of depositories have been abbreviated in conformity with the
Union List; others have been devised.
