| GOVERNOR GIVES PAROLES TO TEN FOR CHRISTMAS One from Baltimore; Rest from Counties of State. HE REDUCES ONE To Leave Institutions . Next Tuesday. Ten colored men are among the 29 prisoners granted paroles by Governor Ritchie this week, the paroles become effective next Tuesday in order that the men may return to their homes for Christmas. Only one Baltimore man is among . those receiving clemency. Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties have the largest number, each having < two residents on the list. Those 1 paroled and the Governors reasons follow: THOMAS BOWEN—Sentenced by Police * Magistrate of Baltimore City to one year q in the House of Correction for assault. Four ± months more of his term remain. About fifteen years ago he got into trouble three C • times on larceny charges. Since then he j built up a good newspaper business. He got into a fight with a pushcart man. Killed Wife ALBERT WILLIAMS—Sentenced by the Circuit'Court of Prince Georges County to ten years in the penitentiary for manslaughter. About four years and two months more of his term remain. He killed his wife during a drunken quarrel because of jealousy. The State's Attorney favors parole and he is well spoken of by reputable citizens. He bad a good deal of provocation because of his wife's conduct. ROLAND HILL—Sentenced by Prince George county police magistrate to one year in the House of Correction for driving under the influence of liquor. Slightly more than four months of his term remain. He was one of a party of six who were all drinking in the car. One of the girls fell out, and when they stopped to get her, another car bumped into them from the rear. No one was hurt. He has a good work record and I think has learned his lesson. Stole Cider ROBERT E. WARFIELD and CHARLES SIMMS—Sentenced by the Circuit Court of Montgomery County to two years in the House of Correction for house-breaking. Something less than one year of their terms remain. These two young men and a companion stole a barrel of hard cider and drank it until the aunt of one of them came and poured it out. They will be employed by a reputable farmer, and I think will be better off at work. Carried Pistol JOHN KELLEY—Sentenced by Somerset county police magistrate to eighteen months in the House of Correction for carrying a deadly weapon.
