MOB LINKED TO REDS BY JUDGE 100 Witnesses Called in Probe Of Shore Lynching Special to The Post SALISBURY — Activity of Communist organizations as a possible contributing factor in the events which led up to the lynching of Matthew Williams, colored, in Salisbury last Dec. 4, was officially laid before the Wicomico County grand jury for investigation by Judge Joseph L. Bailey today. Linking of the Communists to the lynching came in Judge Bailey's charge to the grand jury, which is expected tomorrow to begin consideration of the lynching. Over 100 witnesses from the three lower counties of the Eastern Shore have been summoned to testify. First Action in 101 Days The events of today constitute the first definite action in the lynching investigation in 101 days. Judge Bailey, in his charge, cited the murder of Daniel J. Elliott, prominent lumber manufacturer, as one of two crimes in Salisbury that had stirred the nation. The other crime was the lynching of Williams, confessed slayer of Mr. Elliott, by a mob of several hundred men. The jurist instructed the grand jury to go further in their mvestiga-
