Washington, D.C. December 17th. 1931. Hon. Albert C. Ritchie, State House, Annapolis, Maryland, Dear Sir;- A bunch of us ran over to Washington from Chicago, and while here we are making a little investigation as to your record; our findings are very favorable, you are handling that lynching matter in a way that is above reproach, you are all right on all other matters, but we do find that you have not given the Negro any recognition as to positions. You have in your State some of the best know Negroes in the country, such as our good friends Tom Smith and Will Fitzgerald, and many others, why not work out some good position and place Tom Smith or Will Fitzgarald or some one they will suggest in it then you will have a clear record as far as the Negro is concerned and no White man will object. We all like you in Chicago both the White and Black. We will keep our ears to the ground and see what is going tc come out of the situation. Yours for success. " THE BUNCH"
