Donation From John E.Kirby to Round Sergeant Lewis Hahn Ordered returned. A report was received from the Marshal transmitting with recommendation that it be returned to the donor a check which had been donated by John E.Kirby to Round Sergeant Lewis Hahn for aiding in the arrest of three boys charged with burglary at the resort kept by the said Kirby at Westport, Baltimore County, the Marshal giving as his reasons for his recommendation as referred to that Kirby is the proprietor of a Summer resort in Baltimore County of a questionable character, and also, that he, Kirby, has opened a place of a similar character in the Central District, and in his judgment it would not be condusive to good policing to permit Round Sergeant Hahn to retain the money in question. The recommendation of the Marshal was approved, and it was ordered that check hereinbefore referred to be returned to John E.Kirby. Report from the Marshal filed as Exhibit No. 844. Donations. Upon the recommendation of Captain of Detectives, approved by the Marshal, it was ordered that Detective John H.Mayer be permitted to retain ten dollars donated to him by Hall, Heading-ton & Co. for services in investigating larceny by employees from said firm.
