| Telephones in Boxes. Eastern District. Requisition, as follows, approved by the Marshal, was received from Captain Thomas B.McGee, Eastern District:- "Eastern District, Dec. 11,1902. Thomas F.Parnan, Marshal of Police, Sir:- I ask that you have telephones put in the following patrol boxes, as they are very much needed at present, and I think it affects the efficiency of t'-e Department in this district a great deal without them. I would also suggest that Box 314 be removed from Potomac & Dillon streets to Canton street & Fait Avenue. Box 512, Caroline and Aliceanna, 513, Lancaster & Bond, 46, Chester & Canton ave, 314, Pot-mac & Dillon Sts., 421, Bank & Wolfe Sts., Amount of expense by moving boxes above mentioned would be about §62.00 Respectfully, (signed)-----THOMAS B. MCC-EE, Captain." It was ordered, by the following vote, that contracts be made with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company for the rental of telephones for use in the boxes above designated at the usual rental fee, (§3.00 each per year), and that box 314 be moved, as suggested, at the cost of about |62.00 The vote upon the above, was as follows:- Commissioner Morris, Yea, Commissioner Fowler, Yea. See recommendation filed as Exhibit No. 898. Order as to Xmas & New Year's Eve. Ringing of Bells, Etc.f on Thoroughfare. Communication, as follows, was received from the Marshal:- "Baltimore, Md., December llt1902. To The Honorable, The Board of Police Commissioners, Gentlemen:- In view of the approaching holidays I would respectfully recommend that the following order be issued: In view of the complaints which were made to this department by merchants in the business localities against the practices which have heretofore prevailed in such thoroughfares on Christmas and New Year's Eve, the ringing of bells, throwing of missiles, blowing of horns, exploding of cartridges, and the wearing of |
