| Upon the recommendation of the Marshal,it was also ordered that Officer Prank J. Ryan,Northwestern District, be granted leave of absence,without pay, for December 15th,1902,— 175 Donations . Upon the recommendation of the Captain of Detectives.approved by the Marshal, it was ordered that Detectives George W. Armstrong and John H.Mayer be permitted to retain five dollars donated to them by A. Solomnson,529 S.Broadway, for the recovery of a diamond ring. Upon the recommendation of the Captain of Detectives,approved by the Marshal, it was ordered that Detectives Herman Pohler and George W.Armstrong be permitted to retain Twenty Dollars,donated to them by Charles C.Stieff and Company for the arrest of Ernest Brown and the recovery of silverware. Donation returned. There was received from the Marshal,without recommendation, the sum of five dollars,donated by Gustavus Ober,26 South street, to Detective T.B.Hall for taking William King to the steamer of the Merchants and Miners Company. The Board,believing from verbal statement made by the Marshal in connection with this donation, that the sertn.ce performed by Detective Hall in this matter were not such as would warrant the acceptance of any monetary consideration, directed that the five dollars offered be returned to Mr. Ober with proper explanation. Cleaning walls,etc-Friaon Room.-Southern District Station . It was ordered by the vote as given below, that the walls, and ceiling of the Southern District Station-house be cleaned at cost of $20.00 and that the contract for same be given to the National Window & Office Cleaning Company, 2 S.Holliday stfceet.
