and Cashier of the National Marine Bank and arranged with the said bank to honor the Board's checks for salaries in full, as shown by requisition, and to let the amount to be thus overdrawn, §5,159.40, stand as a loan to the Board until January 1, 1903, without interest. The action of the Secretary, as above reported, was approved. Donations. Upon the recommendation of the Marshal it was ordered that Detective R.H.Thomas be permitted to retain Twenty Dollars, donated to him by Mr. Gus Warner, 202 W.Franklin street, for the recovery of $130.,one gold ring, and arrest of thief F.P.Wilson. Upon the recommendation of the Marshal it was ordered that Officer Patrick Cooper, Central District, be permitted to retain §30., donated to him by the United States Government for the arrest of one William H.Veritz, a deserter from the United States Army. Assignment of Magistrates. The Secretary reported that Justice Charles W.Heuisler,Magistrate for Juvenile Causes, had notified the Department on the 18th., inst., that he desired to be absent from his duties on the 19th.,inst., and that he, the Secretary, assigned Justice J.McKenny White, Northern District, to act in the place of Justice Heuisler; and assigned Additional Justice Neilson Poe, Jr., to sit at the Northern District during the absence of the former, Justice White. The action of the Secretary in the assignment of Magistrates, as above, was approved. Preachers Meeting - Resolution of.
