| 203 It was ordered that the permit asked for be granted, and that the price for same be §10.00 Proposition - Pratt Library. Books at Sta-Houaes. A communication, as follows, was received from the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Baltimore City:- "Baltimore, December 23,1902. Hon. George M. Upshur, Dear Sir:- It has occurred to me that it might be possible to establish such relations between the Police Board and this Library, that use might be made of our books at the Station-houses in the same manner as is done by other institutions. We are sending boxes of books containing 50 volumes each, to such places, to be kept for a fortnight, at the termination of which period they may be returned and another box supplies. We make no charge for the books, nor for our services, the cost of receiving the books being merely that of a set of our catalogues, say about §2.00, and the cost of the transportation of the boxes, $.20 por trip. You will see by this arrangement it will be possible for the officers to occupy their leisure time at the Station-houses, by reading books selected by themselves, from our stores of over 200,000 volumes. Trusting that some arrangement of this sort may be entered into between this Library and the Board of Police Commissioners, I am, Yours very truly, BERNARD C. STEINER." It was ordered that the offer made above by the Enoch Pratt Free Library be accepted, and that the Secretary be instructed to reply to Mr. Steiner's communication, and express the Board's appreciation of his suggestion. Bills Passed. The Board, by the vote as shown hereunder, passed the following bills, and ordered that they be included in the next Requisition on the Mayor & City Council for payment:- John T.Morris & Co........Electrical Supplies.........$ 18.00 August Eidman.............Sta-hou3e Repairs........... 23.50 Foley Brothers............Stationery & Printing.......136.50 M.L.Himmel & Son..........Misc.
