| eOGC deceased. 223 Preachers' Meeting- Resolution. A communication,as follows, was received, read and ordered filed;- "Baltimore,January 5th,1903. Board of Police Commissioners, Josiah A.Kinsey,-Secretary. Gentlemen:- The Baltimore City Preachers' Meeting adopted the enclosed resolutions this morning, and instructed me to forward them to you. Yours, ery truly, James L. Kc.Lain, Secretary. RESOLUTION. To The Board of Police "ommissioners Of the City of Baltimore. Baltimore,January 5th,1903. Gentlemen:- The Methodists Preachers Meeting of Baltimore begs leave to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of December 19lh,1902,in reply to one sent you under date of December 15th,1902. The Meeting notes with regret that you have both failed to apprehend correctly the purpost of ifce communication, and have also passed beyond a consideration of its contents to formally impeach before the citizens of Baltimore, the fitness of its members to preach the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on the ground that they uphold men of"disreputable character blackened with all kinds of immorality and bad conduct". The first of these errors can be easily corrected by a re-examination of the letter sent you of December 15th,ultimo; the second is of graver moment, for, if it is true,as you suggest, that the Methodia Episcopal Church is represented in this gi*'« by an unfit ministry, one of which upholds in wrong doing men such as you have described, then the cause of maralitj and religion as indeed of all that holds society together |
