230 The vote upon the appointment of Eligible William J. Forrest, a sergeant, and assignment to the Northern District was:- President Upshur.......Yea, Commissioner Morris,...Yea, Commissioner Fowler,...Yea. Appointment of Policeman. To fill the vacancy caused by the promotion of Officer William J. Forrest to Sergeant, as above, the Board, by the vote as given below, appointed Eligible Joseph F.Lurz, a policmanjsaid appointment to take effect January 12, 1903. The vote upon the appointment of Eligible Joseph F.Lurz, as above, was:- President Upshur........Yea, Commissioner Morris,....Yea, Commissioner Fowler,....Yea. Recommendation of Lieut, of Mounted Police. Sergeant for Mounted Service. Recommendation, as follows, approved by the Marshal was received from the Lieutenant of Mounted Police:- "Mounted Service, January 6, 1903. Thomas F. Farnan, Marshal of Police. Sir:- I respectfully recommend the appointment of another Sergeant for the Mounted Service of the Northern District. At present there are two Sergeants in the Mounted Service of this District, one of them works from the Harford Road to Cedar Avenue and the other one from Cedar avenue to the Liberty Road. When either is off on leave of absence or sick, one sergeant has to work both squads, covering territory extending from the Harford Road on the east, to the Liberty Road on the west, and from 25th. street on the south, to the city limits on the north.
