229 Complaint. A complaint was received from John L. Yates, Jr., Principal of Night School, #55, upon the subject of disorderly conduct of persons in the neighborhood of said school. It was ordered that the said communication be referred to the Marshal for his attention. Recommendation of Capt. B.J.Ward. Horthern District. For Additional Sergeant. Recommendation, as follows, approved by the Marshal was received from Captain Bernard J. Ward, Northern District:- "Northern District, January 5, 1903. To Thomas F. Farnan, Marshal of Police. Sir:- I hereby recommend that an additional Sergeant be assigned to B.Division of the Northern District, as two Sergeants and sixteen patrolmen are at present covering the identical territory that the two A.Division Sergeants have been working and who are to be reinforced by the additional sergeant that is to come to the district. At times one Sergeant is obliged to be in charge of the two squads referred to and I am therefore of the opinion that an additional Sergeant will greatly improve and facilitate the working of the district. Respectfully, BERNARD J. WARD, Captain." Recommendation as above was adopted. See Exhibit No. 915. Appointment of Additional Sergeant. In accordance with the above the Board, by the vote as show,n hereunder, appointed Eligible William J.Forrest, Northwestern District, a sergeant, and ordered that he be assigned to the Northern District; said appointment and assignment to take effect January 12, 1903.
