oOGC 245 It was ordered that the said complaint be referred to the Marshal with instructions to investigate the matter and report with any recommendations he may have to make in the premises. Order as to Detective Department. A communication, as follows, was received from the Marshal, order therein referred to was approved, and instructions ordered to be given in accordance therewith:- "January 12th., 1903. To The Honorable, The Board of Police Commissioners. Gentlemen:- I would respectfully ask permission to issue the following order in connection with the Detective Departmentt- Horeafter all rooms in the Detective Department to be kept open from 8.30 A. M. until 11 P.M., in order that all members of the Detective Department can have access to satie. That all complainants of robberies, etc., etc., be first referred to the office of the Marshal, after which the Marshal to refer same to the Detective Department. Detective Department to make a report to the Marshal, in writing, the substance of all complaints made. All communications going out of the City to go through the office of the Marshal. That a report be made each day to the Marshal as to how each Detective is working, name of case on which he is working; name of Detectives working banks, depots or other localities; names of Detectives on sick list as well as those on leave of absence. That the Marshal be appraised of all orders issued to the members of the Detective Department from time to time by the Captain of Detectives. Very respectfully, THOMAS F. FARHAH, Marshal." ( See Exhibit No. 923.) Badge - Presentation of To Cant. Thomas B. McGee, Eastern District. It was reported to the Board that Justice William J. Garland, Eastern District, and members of the police force attached to said district, desired to present to Captain Thomas B. McGee a gold badge on the 25th., Anniversary of Captain McGee*s appointment on the police force, and that permission is asked the Board of Police Commissioners to make such presentation. The permission asked for,as above,was granted.
