^c Trials. 253 Officer Alfred C. Vermillion, Northern District, was fined §1.00 for having been thirty minutes late for School of Instructions, January 21,1903. Officer Albert J. Lamm, Central District, reported for having been ten minutes late for roll-call, 8 A.M., January 22, 1903, was excused. Donation. Upon the recommendation of Captain of Detectives, approved by the Marshal, it was ordered that Detectives William A. Mason and Joseph Coughlin, be permitted to retain Ten Dollars, donated to them by Abraham Purman, Nassau County, New York, for services in the arrest of Prank Camman, charges with forgery. Royal Arcanum --- Delegation from. A delegation from the Hoyal Arcanum, consisting of Edward C. Eichelberger, Charles Hogendorf, Edward Glen and Alexander V. Owens, called upon the Board in the following matter: The delegation stated to the Board that arrangements are now making to provide at the several hospitals in the city free beds for the use of members of the Royal Arcanum, who may be found by members of the police force and others,suffering from sickness, accident, etc., in need of immediate assistance. The delegation told the Board that such a plan had been in operation in New York for six years and had proved very satisfactory. It asked the Board if it had any objection when their arrangements are completed to permit the placing in each Station-house of a card similar to the one exhibited by them, on which shall be named hospitals in which free beds will be provided. The delegation also asked when that time arrives that Captains be directed to instruct the members attached to their several districts that, when any one shall be found wearing the insignia of the Royal Arcanum, or otherwise identified as a
